Final Countdown video Ok - I realize that this film has a cult following but - other than the great flight scenes it's highly implausible to the point I can't watch it straight through - I spent a lot of time on aircraft carriers and can appreciate the Cinematography challenges - good scenes of HS-9 (Helicopter Squadron #9) and the "Jolly Rogers" Fighter squadron, the Fighting 84th - a few Top Gun F-14 carrier approach scenes used - Kirk Douglas (a good actor but not that good in military parts) is too old and out of character for the part of the Captain - (the boys on JAG have found better actors for this part) I'd guess he was never in the Navy and if he was, he wasn't on a carrier for sure - his body language decries his lack of exposure to the bridge - also his lines are scripted by someone in Hollywood with some Navy consultant feeding the input and every other line being jazzed up. The most accurate part was the action in CIC - when things go wrong on a carrier CIC is usually where the operations and bridge officers go for answers.

||A Nice Sci-Fi Movie to Watch|
The Final Countdown has a very interesting premise: What would you do it you could take todays technology (in this case a nuclear aircraft carrier with highly sophisticated aircraft) back in time to the time when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor?
