With it's exclusive "Rive Gauche, Modern Decor", highlighted by a glass roof that brings light to all sectors of the building, Alcazar is one of the highlight buildings of modern Paris. The bar-restaurant on the mezzanine level is one of the "in" places to be seen and to enjoy a fabulous time with friends and colleagues. This third volume once more showcases two separate discs. The first is assembled by impresario Fabrice Lamy, who has had a hand in the previous editions as well as being an integral part of the restaurant. The second features a mix by the Young Dyed Soundorom, the 22 Year old darling of Paris Soirees who's mixing skills have enthralled club goers in Paris with his choice selections of deep house and hypnotic loops, bass and soulful breaks. once more you can add the flavor the mezzanine wherever you can play a CD! Mezzanine De L'Alcazar, Vol. 3
$10.69 Love Trippin 2 On 1
2 LPs on 1 CD: FROM HERE TO ETERNALLY (1979)/LOVE TRIPPIN' (1980). The Spinners includes: Henry Fambrough, Billy Henderson, Pervis Jackson, Bobbie Smith (vocals). Only three singles sprang from the release of From Here to Eternally (1979) and Love Trippin' (1980) combined, so this two-fer is hardly a musical powerball. It's not remotely close to their early-'70s LPs, with the unpredictable Philippe Wynne leading the charge and producer Thom Bell in a zone. Wynne's gone; his replacement, John Edwards, a seasoned soul singer, does an admirable job. "Cupid"/"I Loved You For a Long Time" was the Spinners' last significant hit before becoming pop Top 40 nonfactors. A second single, "Now That You're Mine Again," went unnoticed, and the third, "I Just Want to Fall in Love," gets more plays via Internet Real Audio and Window Media than it did when Atlantic Records released it. Bell relies on Bobbie Smith's light tenor and Henry Fambrough's pleasant but colorless tenor for too many leads; after too many doses of them you welcome Edwards' biting, expressive full-bodied vocals ...

Mezzanine De L'Alcazar, Vol. 3
$8.55 This seven-track EP is the Akron, Ohio, blues-rock duo's swan song for esteemed blues label Fat Possum, and, fittingly, it's comprised entirely of songs originally written and performed by the legendary Junior Kimbrough, one of the label's most important discoveries. Kimbrough's hill-country blues had and enormous impact on the Keys, and they treat songs like "Meet Me in the City" and "Keep Your Hands off Her" with the reverence they deserve, while at the same time adding their own sonic embellishments to Kimbrough's songs as a reminder that the blues is far from a stagnant form. "Have Mercy on Me," for example, becomes a dirgy, swampy psych-blues epic as a haunting organ line and Dan Auerbach's fractured guitar licks lead the listener down a wonderfully dark musical back road. This brief, loving tip of the cap is a fitting reminder that as the form's finest practitioners continue to pass away, the blues itself is still kicking hard. Chulahoma is a stopgap EP from the Black Keys, a collection of six covers of songs by cult bluesman Junior Kimbrough, whose "Do the Rump" they covered on their 2002 debut, Big Come Up. Considering that this is the first time the blues-rock guitar-n-drums duo has devoted an album to nothing but straight-ahead blues songs, it wound seem logical that Chulahoma would be the bluesiest recording in their catalog, but the Black Keys aren't that simple. The six songs on this 28-minute EP are hardly replications of Kimbrough's gritty originals, nor do they have the dirty, punch-to-the-gut feel of any of the duo's three proper albums. Instead, this is the weirdest set of music the band has done to date, a trippy, murky excursion into territory that floats somewhere between the primal urgency of the duo's best work and the dark, moody psychedelia of late-'60s blues-rock. Take "Have Mercy on Me" -- its winding, narcotic blues groove settles into a bed of droning organ and bongos, but the interplay between guitarist/vocalist ...
