This record is one of the best roots album ever. Wonderful singing and music with hypnotic feel. I love the flute. Don't hesitate about buying this album, although I recommend getting the 100th anniversary edition which comes with the dub version. I have to say the dub version is as good as the original and I believe my favorite dub record too.

| As Vital as Blood
No roots-reggae collection is complete without this seminal release by Burning Spear. It is one of the most important releases in the history of reggae music, and it captures Spear at a time when he was perfecting the blend of his sound, his message and his direction. I've heard that some newbies have been disappointed by the raw, grainy sound of the songs, but, in my opinion, that's part of the disc's flavor and appeal. If you're not into the older stuff, you might be better off with some of Spear's newer stuff, which is also great. But if you're already cool with older acts such as Marley, Culture and Tosh, then this will be right up your alley.
