After being bounced out of the majors, Jack Elliot heads to Japan to play pro baseball. Mr. Baseball video He finds a very different game and culture across the Pacific. Elliot strikes up a relationship with his boss' daughter. At first, he tries to bully his teammates and the club owners, but he comes to accept and respect his new home.

In the twilight of his glory days, Jack is no longer hitting them like he used to and finds himself traded to Japan. He manages to alienate everyone on the team including the manager, without improving his batting average. But with the love of a Japanese girl and a newfound respect for Japanese culture, Jack finds a way to win.

White Sox first baseman Frank "The Big Hurt" Thomas has a cameo as Elliot's replacement. One of Tom Selleck's best
If you like Tom Selleck, you'll love his performance in this movie. He is both funny & sensitive, brash & humble. The baseball scenes are really authentic. The supporting cast is very good. A great story about seeing things from others' perspective.

The romantic version of major league
This movie is funny, Its alot like Major League But has a romantic twist. Definately worth putting in you movie collection.

Great movie on Culture Shock
This is a true East meets West movie, Tom Selleck is a major league ballplayer in the US that is in a slump and traded to a Japanese ballclub. On arrival he is convinced he knows everything and is too good for the Dragons, but soon learns that acceptance is the key to success. Saw this the first time before moving to Okinawa and agian once there. Very good movie that helps explain and demonstrate the culture shock many people feel when visiting an foreign culture.
