Control And Resistance album for sale Product Description
Control And Resistance album for sale by Watchtower was released Aug 12, 2003 on the Noise label. Considered to be one of the founders of the progressive metal genre made popular by bands like Dream Theater and Fates Warning, Watchtower did not stay together long enough to reap the benefits of their creativity. Their first recording, Energetic Disassembly, hinted at their innovations and talent, but it was Control and Resistance that marked the arrival of a fresh and important voice in the history of both progressive rock and heavy metal. | BEST PROG ALBUM OF ALL TIMES IF YOU'RE INTO PROG MUSIC, YOU JUST MUST HAVE IT NOW!SPIRAL ARCHITECT ARE THEIR SUCCESSORS.I'M WAITING FOR THE NEW ALBUM! By kostaswatchtower (LARISSA,HELLAS) |
| Wild. Pure and simple. Words can't describe how wild the band is until you hear it for yourself. Now obviously, if you're not into technical metal, you won't like this at all... it's just too insane. But if you are into the progressive metal scene, this album's a must-have. Even though half the band left for other things, their replacements on guitar and vocals still carried the banner and honed their sound without letting up the intensity... everything's overplayed, pure and simple. While their '89 release didn't live up to the wildness of their debut, it still remains one of the greatest progressive metal albums ever recorded, helping to spawn an entire underground scene of progressive metal pioneers and firmly putting their names in history books as metal legends. Even today their influence is still felt in many technical metal bands and underground bands. To put it into perspective: it took Spiral Architect about a decade to reach the level of technical mastery and wildness that Watchtower always had since day one. That's how technically impressive and great they were... And still are. By Zephie (Texas) |
| One of prog-metal's crowning achievements! Made by musical geniuses, this album is extremely innovative, well-written, and thrashes like few others. All of the players are masters of their instruments, and not at all typical of the thrash or metal at all (closer to jazz, in fact). Only thing I don't like is Alan Tecchio's shrill vocals, he lacks discipline. Still, this is not much of a problem with an album filled with classic pieces of technical and progressive thrash like "The Fall Of Reason", "Mayday In Kiev", and "Instruments Of Random Murder". A necessity for any prog-metal enthusiast By mcsavage (Pittsburgh, PA) |
| The new lineup This is where the original members Jason McMasters (Dangerous Toys) & Billy White (Don Dokken) left the band with these guys!!!! I remember them at the 1st Death Metal show in Austin many years ago. They have not forgotten their roots or the vision that was given to the ORIGINAL WatchTower. If you want to learn where Metal was ahead of its time in the 80's when bands like this & Militia & Armada & Nemisis 24 was heading as the world was exploding around the Texas Metal scene - it's a history lesson well worth listening to & remembering.
