| | Yasmin Levy Mano Suave CD (2007)
Urc Archives CD music
$13.89 Yasmin Levy has proved herself to be the leading exponent of Ladino song (Ladino is the language of the Sephardic Jews whose roots are in Spain). However, her previous albums have never quite captured her potential. This time, though, she's hit the spot, finding both the intensity of performance and delicacy of arrangement that's been her hallmark. The style is a mix of influences that blend perfectly -- listen carefully and you can hear ...
| | Laura Pausini Io Canto CD (2006)
Urc Archives music CDs
$7.55 Laura Pausini, a multilingual Italian pop singer who won a Latin Grammy in 2005 for Best Female Pop Vocal Album, decided to record an album of cover songs when she returned to the studio to record her follow-up effort. This is a fairly standard practice for pop/rock artists, of course, especially in the wake of a mammoth success like the one Pausini experienced with Resta in Ascolto (released concurrently in Spanish as Escucha in the Americas). Yo Canto (likewise released concurrently in Spanish) is a somewhat unusual covers album, however, for it's comprised of Italian pop/rock songs from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s -- few, if any, of which will be familiar to listeners across the Atlantic. Pausini performs the songs in a manner similar to that of Resta in Ascolto: the songs are heavily produced, layered with guitar, bass, and drums in addition to strings and synthesizers, and the performances ...

| | Tango Apasionado CD (2009)
Urc Archives songs
$15.19 Tango is a style of music that originated among European immigrant populations of Argentina and Uruguay to Tango styles in Cuba and Spain. All sources stress the influence of the African communities and their rhythms, while the instruments and techniques brought in by European immigrants in the second half of the 20th century played a major role in its final definition. In the 1920’s, Tango soon began to gain popularity in Europe, beginning in France. The "Golden Age" of tango music and dance is generally agreed to have been the period from about 1935 to 1952, roughly contemporaneous with the big band era in the United States. The later age of tango, Nuevo Tango, has been dominated by Ástor Piazzolla, whose Adiós nonino became the most influential work of tango since Carlos Gardel's El día que me quieras was released 30 years earlier. During the 1950s, Piazzolla consciously tried to create a more academic form with new sounds breaking the classic forms of tango, earning the derision of purists and old-time performers."Pepe" (Pepe Motta) as he is called by all who know him well, was born in Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina, but he didn't stay there. From an early age, he never wanted to be anything else but a musician, specifically a pianist, and that caused him to leave home. His professional experience as an accomplished performer, arranger, musical director and musical coach has taken him worldwide. For his triumphs in television, theatre, films, record production, festivals and commercial production, he has been honored with numerous awards. In addition, "Pepe" continues expanding his reputation as one of the finest piano players, arrangers and conductors in the world. It's hard to add up all the pluses.Music from "Tango Apasionado" has been featured in the following Films and TV Shows:“Bailtango” featured in "The Dr. Phil Show" (CBS), and "Dance With Me" (Sony Pictures)“Mercado Buenos Aires” featured in "Recipe For A Perfect Christmas" ...
