Miles under the radar and outside the mainstream, Memphis rap collective Three 6 Mafia's prolific, harsh, uncompromising raps have built a tremendous following through tape swapping and other grass-roots methods. Not an unusual story in the Southern rap world, but Three 6 Mafia have managed platinum success creating an even rawer world than anything on No Limit, and through a thicker sheen of syrup than the Screwed-Up Click. The outfit's latest effort DA UNBREAKABLES reveals no dearth of material or focused anger in its 18 distinctive, hypnotically undeniable cuts.
The most remarkable aspect of the album is its elaborate, dramatic production style, closest to what fellow Southerners the Geto Boys were doing a decade earlier. "They Bout To Find Yo Body" is a near perfect, unwavering blend of nu gangsta and old-school horror. "Money Didn't Change Me" hearkens back to the best of the horror rap genre, a cautionary tale delivered in the swaggering manner of Big Daddy Kane. DA UNBREAKABLES stands as both an unpredictable record and an original statement
This is an example of the Southern Rap "screwed" mix style.

Three 6 Mafia Da Unbreakables Songs Da Unbreakables Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews 3-6 BEATIN EM TO DA FLOOR! Great three six man, just awsome. There aint much more to say about it. Submitted by LEON KENNEDY (Raccoon City, CO, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
NORTH NORTH!!!! The Title of the Albumn " Da Unbreakables " goes far and beyond describing how tight these cats have delivered this albumn. I've been a Three Six fan ever since "The End" and I've been down with them ever since. The stand out tracks for me are Wolf WOLF (see Infamous tear sh*t up), Ridin Spinners, Bin Laden ( The official smoking anthem in Tha 03 ) and Testin my Gangsta. And for once not like other artists there are no fillers in this one. All thats left to say is keep it Down and Dirty for the London Quarter and free Project Pat!! NORTH NORTH.....! Buck This aint three 6 mafias best but its good it has more of a crunk club sound than when the smoke clears but the tow albums sounds a little similar fie production form Paul and juicy i think lord infamous didn't shine on this CD as much more like Paul and Juicy are in all the songs instead of lord infamous but its still a good album they lost a lot of members at this time its show three 6 mafia kind of slippin. | | David Banner Mississippi: The Album CD (2003)
Da Unbreakables album
$11.99 On his sophomore disc MISSISSIPPI: THE ALBUM, southern-centric hip-hopper David Banner delivers a fascinating mix of straight-up hardcore gangsta rap and politicized soul music in the vein of Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Like Marvel Comics superhero the Hulk, whose alter ego provides the artist's pseudonym, Banner is one scary looking character, and his rapping style is as gruff, threatening, and hyper-aggressive as his appearance might suggest.
Marrying his horrific lyrical scenarios to samples that often sound ...
| | Ying Yang Twins Me & My Brother CD (2004)
Da Unbreakables CD music
$12.95 ME & MY BROTHER, the third album by Atlanta's Ying Yang Twins, follows the duo's prominently featured role on the Lil Jon & the Eastside Boys top 5 crossover hit "Get Low." In fact, the album capitalizes on that success immediately with "Georgia Dome," a sound-a-like sequel to that inescapable, infectious single. Crown Princes of Crunk, the Ying Yang Twins, Kaine and D-Roc, are all about following their ids, creating pared-down songs about sex, alcohol, blunts, and more sex--a ...

| | Ramsey Lewis In Person, Vol. 2: 1965-'67 CD (2008)
Da Unbreakables music CDs
$15.89 Volume two of our mini series featuring the amazing Ramsey Lewis. Ramsey Lewis straddled the boundary between bop-oriented jazz and pop music. Most of his recordings (particularly by the mid-'60s) were very accessible and attracted a large non-jazz audience. The very epitome of groovy, fingerpoppin' soul/jazz/pop, perfect for a party, yet eminently listenable in any circumstance! With personnel including Ramsey himself, with his roots in Bebop, and Maurice White (founder of Earth Wind and Fire) the Ramsey Lewis Trio sit squarely in the very midst of soul, and Jazz history...as soon as you hear The Ramsey Lewis Trio, you'll feel as if you always knew them! With a whole load of amazing performances recorded live during their record-breaking tours of the 1960s, this is THE Ramsey Lewis Trio album you need. Amazing and timeless soul-jazz-pop-bossa-boogaloo you'll love!
This collection of live mid-'60s Ramsey Lewis Trio recordings includes most, but not all, of his 1965 LP Hang on Ramsey and his 1967 LP Dancing in the Street, missing two and three tracks from each album, respectively. Completists might be a little ticked off by the absence of those cuts, but it still adds up to a generous 64 minutes of playing time from Lewis' prime. The Ramsey Lewis Trio were scorned by critics but widely enjoyed by black and white audiences alike, and this collection offers very much what you'd expect from Lewis' group during this period: swinging, accessible lounge jazz with some guts and quite a bit of pop-soul, devoted almost exclusively to cover material. The seven songs fromHang on Ramsey are the most typical of the Lewis that pop fans are most familiar with, in part because it has his big hit cover of "Hang on Sloopy," ...
