Live in the City of Light album by Simple Minds was released Jun 10, 2003 on the Virgin label. All of these 14 lengthy tracks come from the band's more commercially successful period, covering 1982's NEW GOLD DREAM, 1984's SPARKLE IN THE RAIN and 1985's ONCE UPON A TIME, plus of course the hit single "Don't You (Forget About Me)." The performances are superb, but reworkings of earlier gems like "I Travel" would have been fascinating. Live in the City of Light songs Recorded live at LeZenith, Paris, France in August 1986. Recorded at the Paris Olympia during the 1986 ONCE UPON A TIME tour, the two-disc LIVE IN THE CITY OF LIGHT is a sprawling, sonically crystalline set detailing Simple Minds at their commercial peak. Live in the City of Light album Many longtime fans of the band feel that their earliest albums, from 1979's LIFE IN A DAY through 1981's double SONS AND FASCINATION/SISTER FEELINGS CALL, are the Scottish group's best work, but other than a brief snippet of "Love Song" from 1980's EMPIRES AND DANCE in a medley, Jim Kerr and company ignore their early years entirely. OUTSTANDING AND CLASSIC ALBUM
The album inspired me to continue to listen to Simple Minds and i have been a true follower for 17 years now. This is an awesome ablum, probably the best they ever made. It should go down in history as the music is just fantastic. It's unforgettable and it still manages to send tingles down my spine. Jim Kerrs' vocals are faultless. All in all a classic album and timeless.

One of Best Live Albums of 80s
Fantastic live album. I am fond of Simple Minds but not an avid fan. Regardless, this album is among the top twenty live recordings I've ever heard.
