||The Mammoth of Haunted House Movies!|
The 1963 “The Haunting” what a master piece of pure horror without the sex, drugs, Blood & guts! I wasn’t even alive when this movie arrived in theaters and cannot even recall the 1st time I saw it. It had to have been on TV late night when I was a child in the late 70’s or early 80’s. All I remember is this film scared and creeped the heck out of me. There has been no other haunted house movie like The Haunting, not even Poltergeist can top this classic horror movie. The only other movie, which comes to mind, is, The Legend of Hell House. You can’t even place The Haunting in the horror genre, because now day’s horror consists of torture, blood, sex, and all special effect. To me this is not entertainment just shock value. The Haunting has it all, an old creepy, very spooky dark house. Walls which breath, doorknobs that turn, eerie sounds in the night. Best of all it was filmed in classic black & white. The four characters in this film are brilliant as to how well they protrude how frightened they have become as the nights got stranger and stranger. This movie is a mammoth of all haunted house movies and a must see. I truly wish the new generation would see this classic with an open mind. They are so brainwashed and warped that the need to see heavy violence to be scared, and this is so wrong and sad.. I guess I am just an old fart. Please don’t get me wrong, I grew up with Michael, Jason and Freddy, but I also know how to appreciate a true classic. So turn down your lights, light some candles, get a blanket and make some popcorn and sit back and enjoy the Haunting!

||One of greatest ghost movies.|
A great movie. Atmosphere +++ The book is great, and the movie does not fall short.

I read the book and this movie was just as scary. The line , " oh my God , who's holding my hand ", sent chills down my spine. The remake' with all the special effects, was awful compared to this black and white version. If you want a fun , scarey movie this is it.

||One of the top ten scariest movies!|
The movie that will give you the most chills and thrills with eerie dark hallways, door knobs that turn, walls and door that breath, thundering sound effects is the 1963 “The Haunting” This movie was magnificently made to scare the heck out of you with out all the cheap gadgets of blood and guts. A classic good old time ghost story filmed in black & white. From the house which is stunningly dark, mysterious and creepy, to the story line of the visitors which come to investigate the paranormal for a weekend. This movie I promise you will not only keep you on the edge of your seat, but will also have you asking for more. Superbly done great film for Halloween viewing. Turn down the lights, get a blanket with some popcorn and sit back and let the hair stand up on the back of your neck!
