Haunting Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) One of greatest ghost movies. A great movie. Atmosphere +++
The book is great, and the movie does not fall short. Submitted by markfdavidson (Michigan) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great I read the book and this movie was just as scary. The line , " oh my God , who's holding my hand ", sent chills down my spine. The remake' with all the special effects, was awful compared to this black and white version. If you want a fun , scarey movie this is it. Submitted by Pat (Michigan, USA) Was This Review Helpful? The Mammoth of Haunted House Movies! The 1963 “The Haunting” what a master piece of pure horror without the sex, drugs,
Blood & guts!
I wasn’t even alive when this movie arrived in theaters and cannot even recall the 1st time I saw it. It had to have been on TV late night when I was a child in the late 70’s or early 80’s. All I remember is this film scared and creeped the heck out of me. There has been no other haunted house movie like The Haunting, not even Poltergeist can top this classic horror movie. The only other movie, which comes to mind, is, The Legend of Hell House.
You can’t even place The Haunting in the horror genre, because now day’s horror consists of torture, blood, sex, and all special effect. To me this is not entertainment just shock value.
The Haunting has it all, an old creepy, very spooky dark house. Walls which breath, doorknobs that turn, eerie sounds in the night. Best of all it was filmed in classic black & white.
The four characters in this film are brilliant as to how well they protrude how frightened they have become as the nights got stranger and stranger.
This movie is a mammoth of all haunted house movies and a must see.
I truly wish the new generation would see this classic with an open mind.
They are so brainwashed and warped that the need to see heavy violence to be scared, and this is so wrong and sad.. I guess I am just an old fart.
Please don’t get me wrong, I grew up with Michael, Jason and Freddy, but I also know how to appreciate a true classic.
So turn down your lights, light some candles, get a blanket and make some popcorn and sit back and enjoy the Haunting!

One of the top ten scariest movies! The movie that will give you the most chills and thrills with eerie dark hallways, door knobs that turn, walls and door that breath, thundering sound effects is the
1963 “The Haunting”
This movie was magnificently made to scare the heck out of you with out all the cheap gadgets of blood and guts.
A classic good old time ghost story filmed in black & white.
From the house which is stunningly dark, mysterious and creepy, to the story line of the visitors which come to investigate the paranormal for a weekend.
This movie I promise you will not only keep you on the edge of your seat, but will also have you asking for more.
Superbly done great film for Halloween viewing.

| | Day The Earth Stood Still DVD (1951)
Haunting review
$9.69 Beginning with a documentary style that immediately hooks the viewer, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, based on the Harry Bates short story "Farewell to the Master," becomes as much a human interest story as it does a sci-fi B-movie classic. The film soberly depicts the arrival of an alien dignitary, Klaatu (Michael Rennie), who has come to earth with his deadly robot, Gort (Lock Martin), to deliver the message that earthlings must stop warring among themselves--or else. After being shot at by ignorant, panicky military guards, Klaatu is brought to a Washington, D.C., hospital, where he begs a sympathetic but frank Major White (Robert Osterloh) to gather all the world's leaders so he can tell them more specifically what he has come 250 million miles to warn them about. Losing patience, Klaatu slips into the human world, adapting a false identity and living at a boarding house where he meets a smart woman with a conscience, Helen Benson (Patricia Neal), and her inquisitive son, Bobby (Billy Gray). Both mother and son soon find themselves embroiled in the complex mystery of Klaatu, his message, and the government's witch hunt for the alien. Made during the cold war--when Americans were obsessed with the destructive capabilities of the atomic bomb--THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, thanks to its beautiful pacing, excellent dialogue, and haunting score by Bernard Herrmann, is still ...

Haunting film
$10.29 Based on Henry James's TURN OF THE SCREW, THE INNOCENTS is a chilling psychological horror film about a woman, Miss Giddens (Kerr), who takes a position as governess for two orphans in a stately Victorian home. Alone with the children and only a few servants, Miss Giddens soon begins to see what she believes to be ghosts and begins to suspect that the children's increasingly bizarre behavior may be the result of some supernatural power. When she learns the fate of the house's previous governess and valet, Miss Giddens takes it upon herself to rescue the children from the supernatural being that seems to have them in its grips, all the while questioning her own sanity. Ms. Kerr's nuanced performance, possibly the best ...
| | Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course DVD (2002) Widescreen; Dubbed; Special Edition
Haunting review
$7.09 After having conquered cable television as the world's most hyperactive, animated animal wrangler, Steve Irwin--aka THE CROCODILE HUNTER--takes his hilarious schtick to the big screen. With the help of wife Terri and dog Sue, Irwin embarks on another series of dangerous missions--rescuing snakes, spiders, and baby kangaroos from their current locations and transferring them to safer spots in the Australian Outback. Since this is a feature film, director John Stainton and screenwriter Holly Goldberg Sloan concoct a fictional story to give Irwin's adventure an added kick in the tail. Their concept, a sufficiently outlandish one concerning a shotgun-wielding cattle rancher (Magda Szubanski), CIA operatives, and a missing U.S. government satellite, does the trick quite nicely. The point of this picture, and in fact, the point of anything Steve Irwin-related, is Steve Irwin himself. And with COLLISION COURSE, Irwin proves that his cartoon-like presence is a supremely engaging one, no matter the venue. But Irwin is neither a sensationalist or an exhibitionist. He's a lover of animals as well as nature, and it is this childlike ...

$9.24 The sequel to the racing smash THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS may not have Vin Diesel as its star, but it burns with even higher octane than its predecessor, and a whole lot less extraneous drama. Back in action is undercover cop Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) whose career has hit the skids since he let Diesel's character escape at the last film's end. He has sunk in status and is now a fringe dweller on the Miami street racing scene. A chance at redemption arrives when the fuzz recruits him to investigate Carter Vellone (Cole Hauser), a top-dog street racer with dangerous drug connections. O'Connor recruits his bickering childhood pal (model/singer Tyrese), now a nitro-burning ex-con from the Diesel school of toughness, to help him pull the bad guys to the curb with a tire-spinning vengeance.
John Singleton (BOYZ IN THE HOOD, HIGHER LEARNING) directed, and obviously had great fun delivering, a straight-up racing thriller that's free of the message-bearing pressure of being a "John Singleton film." 2 FAST fairly roars off the screen with comic book exuberance and a cheerful disregard for anything that gets in the way of its forward momentum. Best of all is Tyrese, a natural, laid-back star--he's not afraid to poke fun at his own shirtless model-boy image and amply compensates for the mighty Vin's absence. Rapper Ludacriss is also memorable as O'Connor's mechanic, as is model Devon Akoi as a cute female racer.
