A photographer's blind wife, trapped in her New York apartment by an evil trio who are ready to murder to retrieve a heroin-filled doll hidden in her apartment, cleverly outwits them. Music by Henry Mancini. Based on the long running Broadway play by Frederick Knott. This thriller about a blind woman terrorized in her own home builds to a crescendo of high suspense. A doll containing a fortune in heroin is planted in Susy Hendrix' apartment and a ruthless criminal is desperate to get his hands on it. Through a series of ruses, the guy manages to get rid Susy's husband and trap her alone in the apartment. But as their spine-chilling cat and mouse game reaches its climax, his blind victim proves to be an elusive and formidable match. The gripping tale of a blind woman confronted in her apartment by three criminals with an incredibly elaborate and sinister scheme. One of the first true jump-out-of-your-seat thrillers. Color by Technicolor.

Wait Until Dark Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Extremely Suspenseful!! I love Audrey Hepburn!! Any thing she is in can't go wrong. This film shows the scope of her talent and Alan Arkin is brilliant, too. I was on the edge of my seat. Submitted by dkmactavish (Victoria, BC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Engrossing suspense Wait Until Dark is a kind of classic suspense melodrama, made before gore and special effects became the tools of mystery/horror film makers. It features fine acting in Hepburn, Crenna, and Arkin, and moody background music ( at the appropriate moment ) by Mancini, and a crisp screenplay. Highly entertaining. Sit forward and get some scares! An excellent suspense drama. It's the sort of well made mystery-horror story that hooks you immediately, places you on a roller-coaster of driving suspense and scares the daylights out of you at the end. Susy Hendrix (Audrey Hepburn), blind from a recent accident, is visited by three men who have contrived to get her husband out of town overnight, leaving her alone in their Greenwich Village apartment. The trio is looking for a doll filled with a fortune in heroin which they believe is hidden, unknown to her, in her apartment. One hardly notices that the action rarely moves from the interior of the house--especially when the lights go out. By a series of plot twists and camera effects, the audience is able to live the experience being menaced by the unknown as if it were as blind as Susy. Consequently, the shock and suspense of the climax hits the audience just as hard as it does her.
Audrey is superb as "The World's Champion Blind Lady" (receiving her fifth and final Academy Award nomination). The sweetness with which she plays the poignant role, the quickness in which she changes and the skill in which she manifests terror attract sympathy and anxiety to her and give her genuine solidity in the final scenes. Alan Arkin (in only his second major screen role) is wonderfully devilish in his evilness and charm as one of the three hoods who invade her home and menace her. Another fine score by Henry Mancini (his fourth for a Hepburn film). However, we could have done without the closing title song! Best seen in the dark. Towards the end of the movie, turn up the volume and turn off the lights (you’ll know when). Very, intense. A good movie doesn’t need blood, gore and special effects. What you can’t see is much more frightening.

$10.19 The grisly and debauched film PATHOLOGY is a juiced-up medical thriller that plays like FLATLINERS with a mean streak and a broken moral compass. Writers Mark Nelvedine and Brian Taylor have created a premise allowing for CSI-like forensics along with heaps of sex and violence, truly making the most of the film's R-rating. A high-end exploitation film with good performances, PATHOLOGY is strong enough for horror fans and should go down smoothly for non-squeamish viewers with a taste for the dark side.
Gifted med student Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia, HEROES) arrives at a major Washington, D.C., as an intern, where he is met with suspicion and resentment by the tightly knit group of fellow young pathologists-in-training. Soon, though, Ted is accepted into their ...
