Houses Of The Holy album Product Description

Houses Of The Holy album by Led Zeppelin was released May 27, 2003 on the Warner Bros. label. This limited-edition release contains eight tracks and a mini-LP sleeve. Houses Of The Holy music CDs By 1973, Led Zeppelin was getting used to being the biggest band on the planet (both financially and sonically). Letting their guard down and their spirits wander, they came up with the most widely varied album in their discography. Stylistically, HOUSES OF THE HOLY is all over the map, but it coheres in a grand manner befitting the '70s rock royalty Zeppelin had become. Stepping back a little from the epic scale of ZEPPELIN IV, the group slips into a funky James Brown homage ("The Crunge"), offers one of the first-ever attempts at reggae-rock ("D'yer Ma'ker"), and ventures into Pink Floyd-like prog rock ("No Quarter"). Jimmy Page's guitar work is at its most exquisitely beautiful on "The Rain Song," but the heavy-rock punch of yore is still present and accounted for on "Dancing Days" and "The Ocean." From here, it seemed like Led Zeppelin was capable of anything.   ...See Full Description

One of the best
Houses of the Holy is one of my favourite Led Zep albums. The only poor track is The Crunge, haven't got a clue what that ones about. But the rest of the album is awesome. Over The Hills And Far Away and The Song Remains The Same are all time classics. If you don't like this music you must be dead.

The most listenable of all Zep albums. Highlights: The Song Remains the Same - a prog-rock masterpiece - why more people don't cover this song I don't know Over the Hills & Far Away - the bridge from solo to verse where the solo echo slowly fades & the final double-guitar / organ trick are incredible ideas. Jimmy Page's recording / production ideas are above anything else but the Beatles. Really, ALL these songs rock. I LOVE THIS ALBUM! Summertime with a bag of chronic and you will too! One of rock's coolest album covers.

Giant Of An Album (And That's Not Causeway Either!)
"Houses of The Holy" is another fine addition to the Led Zeppelin catalogue. The eclectic stew includes the trademark hard rock, folk, an eerie jazz-inflected Norse saga, a beautiful mellotron laced ballad and interesting forays into soul and reggae. Like the vast majority of the LZ albums, "Houses" belongs in every serious Zep fan's collection and where's that confounded bridge?

In Absentia CD (2002) 4.7 stars Top Seller Definitive Album
Houses Of The Holy album There's a breed of (post-1980s) bands with the same degree of grand rock experimentalism as Pink Floyd and Yes, who simultaneously adhere to the concept of concise songwriting. Porcupine Tree is one such band--their sound is a balance of lush ambient textures, charming vocal harmonies, rock & roll directness, and acoustically- and electronically-generated sounds. Their debut IN ABSENTIA shows all these elements in place, rich with the likely possibility of them becoming a contemporary counterpart to Pink Floyd. Hailed by Billboard as 'cinematic...simple gorgeous', Porcupine Tree are unquestionably one of the UK's most inspired and inventive rock groups. In Absentia is their eagerly anticipated Lava Records debut. Digipak. 2002. Recorded at Avatar Studio, New York, New York between March & April 2002. Porcupine Tree: Richard Barbieri, Colin Edwin, Gavin Harrison, Steven Wilson. Personnel: John Wesley (guitar, background vocals); Julian Leaper, Perry Mason, Warren Zielinski, Mark Berrow, Katherine Shave, David Woodcock, Rebecca Hirsch, Paul Willey, Ben Cruft, ...

W.A.S.P. CD (1984) 4.4 stars Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Houses Of The Holy songs Also available in a 3-pack with THE LAST COMMAND and THE HEADLESS CHILDREN. By 1984, Kiss had been unmasked for a year and Alice Cooper was on hiatus. But L.A. bands like W.A.S.P. (which stood for "We Are Sexual Perverts") were picking up the theatrical, shock-metal slack quite nicely. The band would wear eerie make-up, tight leather, and knee-high boots, while wielding a variety of outlandish props. Musically, W.A.S.P. specialized in mega-decibel heavy metal, as evidenced by the group's gold-certified self-titled debut. W.A.S.P. contains two of the band's most popular tracks (the scream-along anthems "I Wanna Be Somebody" and "L.O.V.E. Machine)" and many other compositions that fans of '80s metal will find gratifying. Highlights include the rockers "The Flame," "School Daze," "Hellion," "On Your Knees," and "The Torture Never Stops," plus the ballad (by W.A.S.P. standards, anyway) "Sleeping In the Fire." A classic album re-mastered and repackaged in a stunning digipack. Three bonus tracks: Animal (@#$ Like A Beast) (Bonus Track 7"/12" A Side), Show No Mercy (Bonus Track 7" B-Side), and Paint It Black (Bonus Track 7" B-Side) Includes liner notes by Dante Bonutto and Blackie Lawless. All tracks have been digitally remastered. W.A.S.P: Blackie Lawless (vocals, bass); Randy Piper (vocals, guitar); Tony Richards (vocals, drums); Chris Holmes (guitar). Personnel: Randy Piper (vocals, guitar); Blackie Lawless (vocals, bass guitar); Tony Richards (vocals, drums); Chris Holmes (guitar). Audio Mixer: Duane Baron. Led Zeppelin II CD (1969) 4.7 stars Limited Edition
Houses Of The Holy album Limited edition Dutch issue housed in a miniature LP sleeve replica of the original artwork. 2003. From the first grinding notes of the famous vamp that introduces "Whole Lotta Love," LED ZEPPELIN II announces for all to hear that they are the definitive hard rock band of their generation. But before the listener can even settle into the groove, things takes a hard left turn into a spacey new rhythm, exotically flavored by Page's droning feedback and innovative use of a violin bow. By tune's end, Zeppelin has repeatedly toyed with the listener's expectations. This subversive quality distinguishes most of the arrangements on LED ZEPPELIN II, as in the soft/hard dynamic shifts of "What Is And What Should Never Be," the gospelish mood of "Thank You," the rocking vamps and funk rhythms of "Heartbreaker" and "Living Loving Maid," and the country music echoes of "Ramble On." And in their appropriations of source materials from Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, and Sonny Boy Williamson, Page and company continued to mine the rich vein of the blues. UK remastered reissue of 1969 album, packaged in a limited edition miniature LP gatefold sleeve. 9 tracks. Atlantic. 2003. Recorded in London, England and New York, New York in 1969. Led Zeppelin: Robert Plant (vocals, harmonica); Jimmy Page (acoustic, electric & pedal steel guitar, background vocals); John Paul Jones (organ, bass, background vocals); John Bonham (drums, tympani, background vocals).

Led Zeppelin III CD (1970) 4.8 stars Limited Edition
Houses Of The Holy CD music Dutch limited edition comes in a vinyl style sleeve with original artwork. LED ZEPPELIN III is the sound of rock's brash enfants terrible beginning to mature. While the take-no-prisoners blues-rock of the first two albums is still prominent in the band's tool box, other implements are beginning to appear. The delicate acoustic whispers that would run through much of ZEPPELIN IV have their folk/blues antecedents here (the lambent "That's the Way," the earthy "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp"), the results of the band's creative encampment in a woodland dwelling. At the same time, the heavier tracks are unprecedented in their ferocious swagger. Robert Plant's bone-chilling battle cry and the band's savage riffing on "The Immigrant Song" do full justice to the song's Viking imagery, and it's easy to believe that the "hammer of the gods" Plant sings about is being swung straight in your direction. UK remastered reissue of 1970 album, packaged in a limited edition miniature LP gatefold sleeve with original die-cut album artwork. 10 tracks. Atlantic. 2003.
