Solaris review Product Description

Steven Soderbergh (OCEAN'S ELEVEN, TRAFFIC) delivers yet another inspired remake with this pensive sci-fi drama based on the book by Stanislaw Lem. Taking his cue from Russian master Andrei Tarkovsky's 1972 epic of the same name, Soderbergh boldly chooses atmosphere over action, crafting a profoundly meditative work that will challenge audiences for many years to come. George Clooney plays Chris Kelvin, a therapist who is sent to a space station near the planet of Solaris in order to investigate a series of mysterious happenings.   ...See Full Description

Not a typical cloony.
I am a huge sci-fi fan and also a George Cloony fan.Although the plot had a lot of potential the movie is slow and unsatisfying.I don't know how cloony's agent even gave him this script. They took a good idea and butchered it with slow meaningless relationship scenes.Save your money and wait for tv.

Not a typical hollywood movie :)
I have seen this movie several times now, and once on the big screen! And this is not a typical hollywood big blockbuster movie. This movie contains (in my opinion) Clooney's finest acting. The Solaris story is also very deep, I knew the original Solaris movie from 1972, but don't think this version as an remake, like the Director said: "This is not an remake, but this is another point of view to the original story". This is why I give this DVD ****

Wake me up when its over
This movie sucked. I mean the story was intriguing at first but then absolutley nothing happens until the "climax" at the end. Rent it if you need a little help making out with your date that night. She'll be so bored she'll have to do something. Please don't buy this.

So-So Solaris
George Clooney plays a shrink who investigates a space station and its effect on its crew orbiting the energy planet called Solaris. When he arrives, Clooney finds that one of the crew members has dissapeared, 2 others commited suicide, another has locked herself in her quarters, & another is zoned out. The film plods along w/ no suspense or action at all. Its like Nancy Drew in space. All the clues are there & the viewer (at least I was) seems to be 10 steps ahead of the characters of the film. Rent this film only when all other films are out. That includes older movie titles too.
