Die Trying Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews THIS CD IS GREAT! This cd is one of the best cd's i've heard.when "Oxygen's gone" came out, i had it stuck in my head!Die Trying's beats aren't bad at all. You can tell their lyrics are based on a relationship. These guys do sound a little like papa Roach. If your into the pop rock stuff, you will definetly like this cd. Submitted by hispanicrocker13 (Marsing, ID) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Wow, Im the first bad reviewer This cd is not worth it at all. You will only like it if your fans of Blink 182, Simple Plan, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, MxPx, Yellowcard, Mest, New Found Glory, Story Of The Year, Relient K and dozens of those other pop punk bands. Some people have said these guys sound like Papa Roach. WHAT? I hate Papa Roach but I can tell these guys do not sound like them. Ok, now to the songs here on this cd, they are all terrible. All of them have weak bland, generic and sound-alike guitar riffs, drum beats that sound the same and a singer who has a wacky voice. The song structures are pretty basic and predictable. The lyrics are very stupid, inane, wannabe-ish and retarded, especially in Dirty Dirty which is a stupid song. Oxygen's Gone sounds like millions of other songs out on the radio, same thing with Conquer The World. A pop punk song does not fit to be a song with the title conquer. Thats something that would fit more with a metal band. I returned this cd and Im glad I did. But atleast it was only 6 dollars. Only get this if you like pop punk and if you radio-friendly songs like Oxygen's Gone because it's chock full of it. But I really cant recommand it anyway. It's just too diluted. | | Depswa Two Angels And A Dream CD (2003)
Die Trying CD music
$9.15 Depswa is yet another California combo to wade in the grunge and nü metal morass that oozed all over radio and MTV after the breakout success of Linkin Park and P.O.D. It's these groups that Depswa references most on its Geffen debut, along with frequent nods to the Deftones. But despite the LP's tendency to sound like what has been heard before, there's still some solid, if not particularly groundbreaking, songwriting happening on Two Angels and a Dream. Jeremy Penick's vocals don't lean fully on established styles (i.e., the monotone moan, the singsong rap yelp). Rather, he fluctuates between traditional metal vocalism and the quiet-loud dynamic favored by nü metallurgists. Likewise, his mates change up their instrumental approach enough to avoid the sound-alike tag, even if, in the end, Two Angels doesn't stray ...
| | Smile Empty Soul CD (2003)
Die Trying music CDs
$9.85 With an impressive mix of thoughtful lyricism, melodic structure, and hard-hitting riffs, aggro-rock trio Smile Empty Soul manages to put Santa Clarita, CA on the map. Frontman Sean Danielsen sings with a kind of world-weariness that falls somewhere between Scott Weiland and the late Layne Staley. This resignation works particularly well when he's railing against organized ...

$9.85 With the aura of Nickelback's modern-day equivalent still shining brightly, Closure followed in those fresh footsteps with an eponymous debut that possessed all of the same qualities as the famous Canadians. | | Twisted Method Escape From Cape Coma CD (2003)
Die Trying CD music
$8.65 Escape from Cape Coma is the debut of Twisted Method, a young Florida quartet determined to carve out a nu-metal niche of its own. Lyrically, the album revolves around the F word. Heavily treated production, animalistic screams, and incessant, pounding, grating rhythms broken only by the occasional attempt at Linkin Park-style balladry ("Awkward Silence," "Shine") finish out the equation. Love Slipknot? Miss Drowning Pool? Escape from Cape Coma is for you. As the story goes, MCA signed Twisted Method on the strength of the band's showcase alone, and without even a demo tape, the boys found themselves in an L.A. studio recording their debut. If it's even partially true, the story promises a strong set from the band at Ozzfest. Tracks like "Panic," "Reach," and "Inside ...
| | Sarah Vaughan I Love Brazil! CD (1981)
Die Trying music CDs
$8.39 Digitally remastered by Phil De Lancie (1994, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
Sarah Vaughan's debut for the Pablo label is a bit of an acquired taste for the jazz fan. She is accompanied by a variety of Brazilian all-stars (including Milton Nascimento, Dori Caymmi and on two numbers Antonio Carlos Jobim himself) and Sassy (whose voice was still in tremendous form) fares quite well, but few of the performances are all that memorable and none of the dozen songs entered her permanent repertoire. This set is really more for fans of contemporary Brazilian music than for jazz collectors. ~ Scott ...

| | Modern World: Sounds Of A Beat Generation CDs (2002) Import
Die Trying CD music
$9.25 This two-CD set aims to present '60s mod-influenced music from around the globe, with 32 tracks hailing from the U.K., the U.S., Australia, and continental Europe (Spain is especially heavily represented in the latter category). No specific dates are given, and very few of these artists will be known to those outside of this small scene, but it's apparent that everything or virtually everything dates from the late '90s and early 2000s. Almost by definition, such a compilation is not going to be presenting anything too startling. But as retro music goes, this is above average and does include more variety than most other discs with similar themes, throwing in some Hammond organ-led soul-jazz in addition to the expected guitar power pop. There's a little too much recycling of the Who, the Small Faces, and Revolver-era Beatles, as you might expect, though there are also shades of the Kinks, as on the cuts by Sidonie and the Solarflares (with a couple of ex-Prisoners), '60s spy soundtracks ...
