I saw a video on a local TV in which Patricia performed "Quedate Conmigo'- I was fascinated. I felt she was sexy, sensual and wonderful. (By the way I don't understand much Spanish.) I looked for her CD in the local market but they didn't have this one (I bought another CD of hers - just because.)
This CD is very nice with English sentences in a few songs thrown in along with a nice rhythm and Spanish words and music. I listen to her often. Worth buying.

Way to Go!
THIS ALBUM IS THE GREATEST IN MUSIC STORES. I LOVE HER MUSIC. CONGRATULATIONS! ESTE DISCO ESTA BIEN HECHO. I HOPE PATTY MAKES THE CROSSOVER, HER ENGLIS IS PRETTY GOOD.

After an album that consisted of draggy ballads (although Paty's singing was lovely), and an okay collection of pop tunes and anthems--aimed squarely at soccer stadiums--that suffered from "nothing special," Paty has hit paydirt! About half of Dejame Volar whips through your CD player with hot flamenco guitars that bring out the firey gypsy in Paty's soul! Dancy, sexy, and back to Paty's Latin roots, she seems very comfortable with her new sound. Definitely her best album since (and better than) Niña Bonita. Unfortunately, when Paty tries to sing in English, something gets lost (maybe it's those beautifully-rolled "R"s): She magically transforms into Cher. As always, the pics in the booklet are worth the price of the CD.

This album is off the chain. Congratulations to Patricia. I hope she makes the crossover, since her english is good. I recommend "Dejame Volar" so much. It has dance, pop, and ballads. Patty is a true unique singer.

Mexican singer/actress/dancer Patricia Manterola teamed up with talented producers and composers to introduce a contemporary mix of Afro-Caribbean and dance/pop rhythms, including a crossover attempt. While her first goal has been accomplished, the second failed to deliver memorable songs. However, this record features the catchy hit single "Que El Ritmo No Pare," including an English version called "The Rhythm," and two additional Spanish-language versions titled "Que Mexico No Pare," (Don't Stop Mexico) and "Que El Futbol No Pare," (Don't Stop Soccer) as a tribute to her native country and its most popular sport. Tropical meet Latin pop "Salsa," Latin club/dance "Ojos Negros," and bolero "Tu Mi Luz," emerge as three of her best songs. ~ Drago Bonacich

Olga Tañón's continuing search for pop-crossover equilibrium again misses its mark on Sobrevivir, another ill-received pop album that resulted in a couple major hits ("Asi Es la Vida" and "No Podras") yet still angered her longtime fans, who wanted more merengue, not more pop. Past albums like Te Acordarás de Mí (1998) and Yo por Ti (2001) had been mixed bags, interweaving tropical music with ballads and pop, but Sobrevivir isn't even a mixed bag: it's a pop album through and through. Sure, there are some tropical-styled dance songs -- and good ones, at that -- namely "Caramelo" and "Asi Es la Vida," but they're not the kind of dizzying merengue barnburners that had brought Tañón such acclaim and devotion during the '90s, when she was clear and away the Queen of Merengue.
