This remake of "The Paleface" finds Don Knotts filling in for Bob Hope as a cowardly dentist who gets mixed up with Indians and outlaws when he heads out West. Jesse Heywood leaves Philadelphia behind for a new life on the frontier. He soon meets Penny, a beautiful gunslinger trying to foil a gang of bandits. She helps Jesse out of a few jams thanks to her quick trigger finger, but the bumbling doctor thinks it's his own gun that actually shot his attackers. In the process, however, he really does develop the courage to become a real hero. Shot in Techniscope. Color by Technicolor.
Released theatrically in New York City July 10, 1968, on a double bill with "King Kong Escapes."

Shakiest Gun In The West Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A great movie My son, who is nine, loves Don Knotts movies and this one is a winner! We have really enjoyed this movie. It's nice to watch a family movie that isn't a cartoon and doesn't have any cursing.
No one compares to Don Knotts for a good laugh. We are glad to have added this movie to our collection! Submitted by BLPBARTSCH (LaCrosse,WI,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A funny remake that is as enjoyable as the original I had almost forgotten how funny this film is. Essentially The Shakiest Gun In The West is a remake of Bob Hope's classic western comedy Paleface, even so this film has a life all of it's own, Don Knotts never fails to amuse and the supporting cast are superb. My family and I had many belly laughs while watching.
Overall the disc itself is excellent, the print is clean and clear, the one small fault is in the sound during the livery stable scene where the sound changes several times, however, I believe this is how the original film was, the problem sounds like a looping mismatch but does not spoil the movie at all.
The only bonus material is the theatrical trailer. Under the heading recommendations are pointers to other Don Knotts classics, it would have been nice if they had included the trailers for those films as well.
In my opinion The Shakiest Gun In The West is an excellent comedy and well worth the investment !!! Submitted by phantomuser (QLD Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$9.69 Based on both the short story by John W. Campbell, Jr. and the 1951 film produced by Howard Hawks, THE THING is John Carpenter's stunning masterpiece of horror. A group of weary scientists enduring the winter in an isolated camp deep in Antarctica chance upon an alien spacecraft buried in the ice. Near the strange craft is the body of an alien being, frozen solid. Thinking they have made the find of a lifetime, the scientists bring the alien body back to camp and thaw it out. The alien awakens, not in the best of moods, and proceeds to take over the identities of the scientists, one by one, body and all. Helicopter pilot MacCready (Kurt Russell) must lead the surviving men in discovering who among them is human and who is not and how they can destroy "the thing" before it takes them all and moves on to the heavily populated mainland and the rest of humanity. Rob Bottin supplies the awe-inspiring special effects of the creature in its many, ever-changing forms. The effects were groundbreaking at the time and hold up flawlessly over the passing years. But Carpenter does not rely solely on special effects, utilizing his spectacular cast, which includes Wilford ...
