Primus: Les Claypool (vocals, acoustic bass guitar, bass guitar); Larry LaLonde (acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Tim "Herb" Alexander (drums). Primus' first studio album wouldn't necessarily be a surprise to anyone familiar with their Suck on This days, not least because a good chunk of that album ended up being represented here. Not that this was surprising, but what was pleasant was how well and easily the at-once frenetic and extremely precise way the trio had around its spastic rhythms, translated into a great effort away from the stage. Certainly ...

| | Meat Loaf VH1 Storytellers CD (1999)
Clocks EP
$9.59 Personnel: Meat Loaf (vocals, guitar); Patti Russo, Pearl Aday (vocals); Kasim Sulton (acoustic guitar, bass, background vocals); Ray Andersen (guitar, keyboards, background vocals); Tom Brislin (piano, background vocals); Damon La Scott (guitar); John Miceli (drums). Recorded live at Metropolis Studios, New York, New York in October 1998. Includes liner notes by Bill Flanagan. Personnel: Meat Loaf (vocals, guitar); Ray Anderson (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Tom Brislin (vocals, piano); Patti Russo, Pearl Aday (vocals); Damon La Scot (guitar); Kasim Sulton (acoustic guitar, bass guitar); John Miceli (drums). So, the plan was to have Steinman tell the stories and Meat Loaf sing the songs, but when the time for the taping came, Steinman was sick and Meat Loaf went on alone. The result is that the performance doesn't give much information about the composition of the songs. Meat Loaf, who is intimately acquainted with them, of course, provides some insight, noting, for instance, that Steinman long worked on a musical version of Peter Pan to be called Neverland, and that many of the songs that wound up on the first Meat Loaf album, Bat out of Hell, were intended for that musical. He also cites the Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho as an inspiration for the song "Bat out of Hell." And he vividly describes the days when he and Steinman went door to door in the music industry in New York trying to get people interested in Bat out ...
