 Worst movie I have ever seen!
This movie was by far the worst movie I have ever seen. I mean it was a complete waste of 3 1/2 hours sitting in front of the TV watching the most boring,confusing,useless and stupid movie ever! I was confused within the first ten minutes and was just waiting for it to be over, but it just kept dragging on and on for hours. I would definitly not recommend this movie to anyone, because it sucked there are not even words to explain how bad it was and thats the nicest way to put it.

 Homer survives sack of `Helen of Troy'
A slightly revised version of the Iliad, with fewer godly interventions and more human motivation, isn't the worst idea in history. Unfortunately, this production might better be called `Agamemnon,' because that's who is watchable. Ronni Kern's script tries to imagine the epic characters as actual people, with considerably less heroism and more thwarted love than the classical story. There's a lot of Homer that's missing, and other incidents and characters that are glossed over or re-written. But the underlying sense and the narrative thread remain. The problem comes in the putative romantic leads. An actress' life can be hard, and the idea of playing a realistic character and the most beautiful woman in the world is daunting. Unfortunately, the nicest thing one can say is that waifish Sienna Guillory is not up to the task, either physically or in acting skill. She's not helped by bland Matthew Marsden, playing a Paris who in this telling is Helen's true love. Marsden is reasonably cute, but he seems to have wandered over from the set of `Baywatch Bosporus.' That leaves the field to the supporting cast, notably Rufus Sewell, who is rvieting as the black-hearted Agamemnon. He finds excellent counterpoint from James Callis as he weak-kneed brother Menelaus. In minor roles, Katie Blake as Clytemnestra and Emilia Fox as Cassandra are far more formidable women than Sienna Guillory. The settings on Malta and in Italy add some realistic touches to CGI efefcts that vary from impressive to silly. It's one of Kern's useful conceits that most epic `heroes' were actually greedy, brutal goons and women needed great good fortune to steer clear of them. Helen can't, because of her supposed beauty, which brings ruin to her and those she loves. Kern's sympathies rest squarely with Helen and decent but hapless Troy. But that requires a more commanding actress than the Helen we have here. Guillory doesn't seem like an idiot; she knows what's expected in scenes, but doesn't have the acting experience to deliver. She'd be fine in a part where the weight of the production didn't rest on her narrow shoulders. And speaking of that, she does have a pretty, pouty face, in the spirit of young models the world over. Guillory is most convincing in the scenes where she's playing a teenager. Thereafter, director John Kent Harrison tries draping her in gauzy outfits. But in a transparent top, the unendowed Sienna Guillory looks about 14; Kate Moss seems buxom by comparison. Fine if you like the type, but not worth going to war over. The nude bits may raise some parent's eyebrows, and the movie does not avert its eyes from the murders and rapes of war. Overall, this ancient warhorse of a story hold up well despite the leading lady's shortcomings.

 Oh, those Trojans!
This 2-disc, 3-hour epic is a bit of a handful to take in all in one hit, but it does come through with the goods. Well acted (by and large) with great sets and costumes. Some scenes could be a little shorter, especially those involving Achilles. One the whole though, a creditable effort.

 just sucks
bad bad movie.. even when its more based on Homer's than Troy, it still sucks so badly. Achilles is a skin head?? omg.. waste of time!!

 utter stupidity
this was the worst version of the Iliad i have ever come across. There were so many inaccuracies in the script, and the acting wasn't even very convincing to make up for it. the only version i have seen which is less correct was the more popular Troy starring Orlando Bloom and Brad Pitt. and who can say that Sienna Guillory's face would even launch one ship, let alone a thousand. the one saving grace in this movie was the casting of Rufus Sewell as Agammemnon. apart from Rufus, a complete waste of time.
