Days of Purgatory is perhaps the best starting point for anyone first discovering Iced Earth, as it presents much of the band's early material with superior sound quality and musicianship, most notably from vocalist Matthew Barlow. All aspects of the band's songwriting are presented herein: energetic staccato riffing, dual-guitar harmonies, melodic acoustic passages, complex arrangements, and double kick drums. I regret spending twenty bucks on this piece. It doesn't do a very good job representing the goodness of Iced Earth.

Friggin Amazing!
Iced Earth owns, and this 2cd compilation sure shows it. How they continue to come up with their music is beyond me.

Iced Earth are the kings of Power Metal!!!
I bought this 2 cd collection back in 2001, and I have to say that this is one of the best collections of Iced Earth`s early days!!!!!!!!!! Matt barlow is by far one of my all time favorite vocalist, next to Bruce Dickinson & Rob Halford!!! Matt`s gritty, agressive in your face vocals, along w/ his incredibly powerful range make this a must have!!! My favorites are:Stormrider, Pure Evil, Dante`s Inferno, Cast In Stone.

This is great for new and old fans alike. Matt Barlow is easily my favorite singer and handle the old tracks so well.
