Greatest Hits is a 12-track budget-priced collection that features some of Ernest Ashworth's biggest hits from the early '60s, including "Talk Back Trembling Lips," "Everybody But Me," "I Take the Chance," "A Week in the Country," "I Love to Dance with Annie," "Pushed in a Corner," "Because I Cared" and "The DJ Cried." Possessing metal pipes like few before him, leonine Steelheart yelper Michael Matijevic scarred the airwaves forever when he hammered the simply unmatchable chorus of the hairball "I'll Never Let You Go": ludicrous and sublime, akin to Whitney Houston hitting the hot spot in "I Will Always Love You." The opening strands of "Everybody Loves Eileen" bring Ratt out of the cellar before the cut curls into a pop n' fresh roller coaster ride. The remainders on this ridiculous dish are also overlong examples of excess but not as memorable, paying homage to Whitesnake and other flailing stylistic ventures. "I'll Never Let You Go" is available on some quality collections and no aficionado of poodle pomp should let that song go, otherwise leave Steelheart in peace with the music it helped lay to rest. ~ Doug Stone

It was a great day for rock fans when, on June 7, 1969, the supergroup Blind Faith played their debut concert in London's Hyde Park, before an audience of 100,000 eager fans. The group consisted of Eric Clapton on guitar, vocalist and keyboardist Steve Winwood, bassist Rick Grech, and Ginger Baker on drums. The 40-minute set included "Well All Right," "Under my Thumb," and "Can't Find my Way Home."
Their debut gig was in front of a cool 100,000 people on a warm day in London's Hyde Park on June 7, 1969. This free concert may have lasted just over 45 minutes long, but fans were treated to a selection of timeless tracks by the classic band. This is a unique opportunity to see the world's first super group, featuring Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Rick Grech, and Ginger Baker, perform for a very long time. Extras include a 10 minute documentary on the formation of the super group with excerpts of Traffic, Spencer Davis Group, Family, and Cram, promo videos, photo gallery, and discographies of each band member pre 1969.

A Billy Joe Shaver album is always cause for celebration, but on this 2007, Grammy-nominated release, the outlaw country troubadour shines in a whole new way. Produced by John Carter Cash, the album features all country-gospel originals, half of them sung in duet with a laundry list of country greats, including the late Johnny Cash, old partner in crime Kris Kristofferson, and Tanya Tucker. Although the Christian-themed lyrics are utterly sincere, fans needn't worry that Shaver has gone soft on them. The music crackles with country-rocking, honky-tonking fire.
