Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles Rusty Parker (Rita Hayworth) longs to leave behind her job as a Brooklyn dancer and be a Broadway star. Things begin to look up for her when she enters a "Cover Girl"
contest--she reminds the wealthy publisher of a lost love, and lands on the cover. As fate would have it, she is the granddaughter of the woman who broke the publisher's heart. Thus, Rusty begins a winning streak which sees her gathering the attentions of several wealthy men...but is it really the faithful Danny McGuire (Gene Kelly) whom she loves? This very funny Kern and Gershwin music features many lavish production numbers featuring the stunning Hayworth, great dancing by Kelly, and strong supporting roles from Phil Silvers and Eve Arden. Academy Award Nominations: 5. Academy Awards: Best Scoring of a Musical Picture. This film features the innovative "Alter-Ego" musical number, in which Kelly dances with his own image. According to co-choreographer Stanley Donen, director Charles Vidor didn't believe it was technically possible to accomplish what Donen and Kelly envisioned. So Donen himself took charge of the sequence -- his first shot at directing.
Color by Technicolor.

Cover Girl film
$14.39 Based on the journals of Brother Gaspar de Carvajal, AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD is director Werner Herzog's hallucinatory tale of Spanish colonialists searching for El Dorado, the legendary city of gold, in 16th-century Peru. When the travellers reach an impasse, a scouting party is assembled to search for any traces of the mythical empire. As they attempt to forge their way through the dense jungle, more and more of the party falls ill while their ruthless leader, Don Lope de Aguirre (Klaus Kinski), grows increasingly insane.
Widely considered to be Herzog's finest film, AGUIRRE, which shares much in common with Francis Ford Coppola's APOCALYPSE NOW, highlights the director's visionary approach to filmmaking. Like Coppola's ...

$9.79 Sydney (Philip Baker Hall), a mysterious professional gambler, befriends John (John C. Reilly), a young man in trouble, and teaches him the ways of making a living in the casinos of Reno. John gets involved with Clementine (Gwyneth Paltrow), a pretty waitress who doubles as a prostitute, and Jimmy (Samuel L. Jackson), a two-faced criminal. When trouble erupts, suddenly Sydney has to rescue his young friend, but a secret from his past threatens to destroy everything he has tried to build up.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson's highly acclaimed debut feature (based on the films of Jonathan Demme and John Cassavetes) is a tight, intricate film noir character study with a more disciplined plot than his later, more expansive ...

| | One Night At Mccool's DVD (2001) Widescreen
Cover Girl movie DVD
$16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an outré toupee. His story of how Jewel led him to ruin, filmed in a stylized flashback bathed in blue, is mirrored by Carl talking to his therapist--played with a delicious verve by Reba McEntire, and Detective Dehling talking with a priest; each telling their own stories of obsession with Jewel. Tyler is clearly beautiful, but it's the evil, scheming side of her character--delivered with voluptuous softness and irresistible ...

Cover Girl film
$10.19 The grisly and debauched film PATHOLOGY is a juiced-up medical thriller that plays like FLATLINERS with a mean streak and a broken moral compass. Writers Mark Nelvedine and Brian Taylor have created a premise allowing for CSI-like forensics along with heaps of sex and violence, truly making the most of the film's R-rating. A high-end exploitation film with good performances, PATHOLOGY is strong enough for horror fans and should go down smoothly for non-squeamish viewers with a taste for the dark side.
Gifted med student Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia, HEROES) arrives at a major Washington, D.C., as an intern, where he is met with suspicion and resentment by the tightly knit group of fellow young pathologists-in-training. Soon, though, Ted is accepted into their circle---where they each take turns committing a murder so that the others may prove their mettle by figuring out the cause of death and celebrate with drug-fueled orgies among the dead bodies in the hospital. Things change for Ted, though, when his law student fiancée, Gwen (Alyssa Milano), moves to the city and helps to scare him straight. Soon, crazed Wallace Stevens-quoting leader Jake Gallo (Michael Weston) turns on Ted, putting both Ted's and Gwen's lives in serious jeopardy. The film opens with the Hippocratic Oath, and it's easy to tell that PATHOLOGY is going to show us doctors behaving badly, and the film is in fact almost gleefully immoral, with an attractive young cast that engages in almost any kind ...

Cover Girl review
$28.69 Starring an endearing Marlo Thomas as Ann Marie, the "girl" of the title, THAT GIRL was a classic TV show and a forerunner of the MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW in its portrayal of an independent woman determined to make it on her own. Living in New York City and attempting to start a career as an actress, Ann Marie also finds time in her busy schedule for her boyfriend, Don (Ted Bessell). Lew Parker plays Ann Marie's father, and Dabney Coleman costars as well.
The third season of this series is a pivotal one for aspiring actress Ann Marie (Marlo Thomas) and her ever-devoted boyfriend Donald Hollinger (Ted Bessell). In an era of great change, this show was a reflection of its time. Front-page issues such as spousal abuse, adoption, race relations, and politics are woven into ...
