An odds-and-ends collection of rare B-sides, recasts of older tracks, and one live number, The Roads Outgrown also serves as a good brief introduction to the latter period of a band that has undergone significant stylistic change over the course of its existence. "Lay Me Down," the opening song, is the keeper of the bunch, with its bottoming-out bass drum rumbling underneath a hopelessly forlorn violin. There's also a worthy cover of Will Oldham's "New Partner" and a soaring live version of "Fitzcarraldo," one of the band's best songs. ~ Jason Nickey
A collection of odds and sods from one of Dublin's most popular bands of the last ten years. Features b-sides and various material from the last two years on one disc, such as reworked versions of 'Lay Me Down' and 'Headlong' from For The Birds (their Steve Albini-produced record of 2000), a cover of Will Oldham/Palace Music's 'New Partner', a handful of songs that graced Irish only releases, a ten minute live version of 'Fitzcarraldo', the title track from their second record, and much more. 9 tracks. Overcoat. 2003.

Roads Outgrown
$12.19 For the Birds opens with "In the Deep Shade," an understated instrumental that sets the mood for the rest of the album. Despite some relatively peppy numbers such as "Fighting on the Stairs," the wailing guitar sound on songs such as "Early Bird" and "Santa Maria," ...
| | Neil Young On The Beach CD (1974) Remastered
Roads Outgrown
$8.99 After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain."
The set also features a trio of scathing songs--"Revolution Blues," "Vampire Blues," ...
| | Frames Set List CD (2004)
Roads Outgrown
$9.75 Set List is the first Frames' release under the Irish roustabouts' domestic distribution deal with Anti, in preparation for a proper studio full-length. It makes sense, the live album release -- the Frames have always made their name on-stage, and Set List will disappoint neither the ardent fan nor curious newcomer. Glen Hansard is a frontman of the beaded, bloody sweat variety, and his mates never get tired of amping the emotion with heart tingling wails of guitar and shrill fiddle. The crowd never tires of it, either -- they shout ...

Roads Outgrown
$25.59 Recorded between February 1966 and October 2001. Includes liner notes by David Wild.
Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sony Music Studios, New York, New York).
This collection's 39 tracks include "Solitary Man," "Sweet Caroline," and "I'm A Believer,"
as well as numerous other hits by the veteran singer-songwriter.
2001 gave Neil Diamond fans plenty to cheer about. A new album of all-original studio material (THREE CHORD OPERA), a speaking and singing cameo in the bawdy film SAVING SILVERMAN, and the hit-packed anthology THE ESSENTIAL NEIL DIAMOND. This two-disc set chronologically traces the Brooklyn native's career path over the span of four decades. Packed with mono versions of classic '60s hits, Disc One alone would be a considerable canon for the average musician, thanks to songs like "Solitary Man," "Cracklin' Rosie," "Song Sung Blue," "Kentucky Woman," "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," "Sweet Caroline," and "I'm A Believer." For Diamond, this was just a start, as he leapt to MOR god-like status via his duet with fellow Erasmus High alumnus Barbra Streisand ("You Don't Bring Me Flowers") and other sentimental sides including "Heartlight," "Love On The Rocks," "September Morn," and the patriotic anthem "America".
A number of in-concert cuts quickly dispel any doubts that Diamond's skills are equally as impressive on stage as they are in the studio. One listen to live favorites like "He Aint' Heavy He's My Brother," "Shilo," and "Brooklyn Roads" cinches Diamond's legacy as an American musical treasure.

Roads Outgrown
$22.79 Brian Conway is considered the leading player in the Sligo-New York style of playing, and this, his second solo album, is described by Earle Hitchner in the introduction as ‘a striking document of his evolving virtuosity, musicality and the inspiration and pleasure that come from playing such a responsive instrument for the past six years.’ The instrument in question is a Degani violin purchased by Conway six ...
