The state of California probably gave C-Bo an unintentional career boost by incarcerating him in 1998. Over his career his lyrical content has been nothing if not consistent--think West Coast thug life, and you've pretty much got the picture. He likes to wax lyrical about gangsta action, 12-gauge shotguns, Glocks, the whole nine, as it were.
THE MOBFATHER's production is pretty basic--a beatbox and some minimal keyboards--but C-Bo's strengths have always lain in his hearty dissection of his subject matter. He can make a mini-opus of a track such as "Hustlin'," while "Know Where To Find Me" has an immediacy in flow and language that places the rapper head and shoulders above most of his contemporaries. While THE MOBFATHER's adherence to gangsta philosophy is almost religious in its traditionalism, it's an entertaining enough slice of the hard stuff for those with the appetite.

Needs to Erase this album First off I am not a hater. I like C-bo but I got to keep it real this cd is wack as hell especially the beats. I bought this for $6.00. I tried to listen to this but I just could not take any more. I gave it away as matter of fact. And these reviewers who gave it 4&5 stars are lying cause they bought it for full price. One Word....Excellence! C-Bo has perfected his style. He doesnt waste bars and his production is outstanding! C-Bo will stay underated to the people who dont listen to non-commercial rap, but to the people like me who appreciate quality, he is top 15 all time. If you dont know your history on C-Bo, look how far he has come. Again, he is way more talented than 90% of rappers out. If you really listen to words and not just the beat of a song, you will be impressed with his work. Submitted by pmgsouthwest (Chandler, Az, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
