Principally recorded at Balance Productions, New Orleans, Louisiana.
On A LETHAL DOSE OF AMERICAN HATRED, Philip Anselmo and crew further establish themselves as much more than just the Pantera frontman's side-project. True to the band's name, Superjoint Ritual plays it agreeably loose and sloppy, combining the manic thrash of metal-influenced '80s hardcore bands like Agnostic Front, Leeway, and Warzone with the brutally intense vocals of death metal and grindcore.
Though it may seem strange to characterize music this preoccupied with crazed anger and nihilistic alienation as fun-loving, there's a certain element of teenage garage-combo exuberance here that's undeniable; Superjoint Ritual is definitely a band getting back to its roots. It should also be noted that those roots go all the way back to the dawn of American popular music, as the album features Hank Williams III on bass, the country heir having joined the band on bass just after the recording of USE ONCE AND DESTROY.

Lethal Dose Of American Hatred Music Superjoint Ritual Lethal Dose Of American Hatred Songs Lethal Dose Of American Hatred Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews GREAT CD!! This CD is definitely underrated, the songs pack a punch and have tons of attitude.
Phil still has it!!
Is it better than Pantera? No. It isn't really better than Down either but it's still good enough to buy along with their first album. Submitted by frankcastle09 (Georgia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
to megadeth1981 It's fresh it's raw, brutal and it's NOT unoriginal! Songs like 'Personal insult', 'Stealing a page' or 'Symbol of evermore' show that this album is harder and filled with more anger than the first album. This is pure underground hardcore heavy music. pretty crazy metal Superjoint's latest album is more of the same as thier first album... wich isn't to say thats a bad thing. the best tracks are: the sickness, Dress like a target, the horror, and absorbed Submitted by lenalocke (r-dogg) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
One of the best It's been along time since I have heard an album this hard and yet, so simple. SJR have captured the 'feel' of the 80's hardcore / thrash scene and made it way heavier.
The song structures sort of remind me of 80's/90's D.R.I, S.O.D, Misfits. Lead guitar, not needed, the riffs and drums are just brilliant.
The opening track 'Sickness' pretty much sets the scene for the rest of the CD, it never goes soft, it's not a technical wonderland of lead breaks, it is however a perfect thrash CD.
Fingers crossed the next CD is along the same lines because this one was a big improvment over 'Use once'.
PLEASE, stop comparing this to Pantera, it's SJR, not Pantera V2. Submitted by cenotaph (Melbourne, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Different to Pantera! After listening to this album a couple of times, I found it to be awsome. True hard raw metal at it's roots. Hard & Fast short
songs.
My fave:
Introvert, Ozena, Dress like a target, Oblivious Maximus, F Your Enemy, Alcoholic, many more.
Very little lead guitar, but still good.
Not As technical as Pantera was. Submitted by Bruno (ACT Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
