When it comes to heavy-metal lyrics, historically there have been but a few options. If one isn't inclined to go the ever popular, Iron Maiden-approved demons and wizards route, he or she is really only left with Kiss-style macho chest-pounding, or bleak alienation of the type perfected by Metallica. With its self-titled U.S. debut album, THREE DAYS GRACE manages to add a fourth option by combining ultra-stripped-down, de-tuned monster riffs in the very best Black Sabbath/Melvins tradition with emo-esque, heart-on-the-sleeve, diary-like poetry worthy of a Deep Elm Records release. In addition, these north-of-the-border boys add a snap-tight, chorus pedal-heavy production sheen that recalls the greatest of all Canadian hard-rock trios, Rush (particularly that band's excellent, but oft-overlooked, 1990s albums COUNTERPARTS and TEST FOR ECHO). By combining the best elements of metal and emo, two often-opposing genres, THREE DAYS GRACE breathe new life into both styles.

Three Days Grace Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Awesome Hard Rock This was without a doubt one of the best debut albums of 2003. Standout tracks include "Burn," "I hate everything about you," "Home," and "Scared," but all the songs are awesome. There is no filler on here. This is really a killer album. All hard rock fans should appreciate it. Submitted by TJ (PEMBROKE PINES, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Pull no punches These guys are one BMF's and pull no punches when it comes to hard rock. It's angry, loud and fast. But the lyrics and instrumentation are first rate. Buy this CD. You will go no wrong. Submitted by rocker (stroudsburg, pa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
All Their Songs Are Amazing! I just recently started listening to 3DG, And already being a Priestess fan, these two bands are very similar in style, and I love it! 3DG don't have bad songs, and each one is very unique and great. Who would have thought one of my favorite songs would be entitled "I Hate Everything About You". 5 Star Band! Submitted by Slick (Montreal, QC, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Brilliant! This is one of the bands that got me listening to rock. I bought this Cd forever ago and i got their new Cd, One X, a week after it came out. The singer has a raw yet angelic type voice. Wonderful band. 5 stars. Submitted by dark_shadow_from_ur_dreams (Westmoreland, TN, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Three Days Grace
$10.45 It's a testament to the conviction of Breaking Benjamin that two of its members quit another band already signed to a major label to join what was, commercially, much less of a sure thing. SATURATE's success proved them right, though. A melting pot of post-grunge riffs, nu-metal power, and classic rock accessibility, Breaking Benjamin offers something for hard rock fans of all stripes. Melodic choruses and signature riffs rub shoulders with screeching, from-the-gut vocals and amps-on-11 guitar firestorms. By paying homage to all their influences simultaneously, the band seems to have come up with a hard-hitting sound whose whole is greater than the sum of its already-impressive parts ...
| | Breaking Benjamin We Are Not Alone CD (2004)
Three Days Grace
$10.45 When Aaron Fink and Markus James left Universal Records act Lifer to join the then-unsigned Breaking Benjamin, many hard-rock fans were skeptical. WE ARE NOT ALONE, the latter band's sophomore effort, promises to silence the naysayers for good. Led by powerful vocalist Ben Burnley, Breaking Benjamin delivers a snap-tight, streamlined brand of heavy alternative rock with occasional detours into the rhythmic funk-metal territory inhabited by Limp Bizkit and Korn.
With strong melodies reminiscent of Staind or Incubus at their most accessible, the Pennsylvania combo makes good use of soaring vocal harmonies and unusual production touches (the piano intro on "Breakdown" and the swirling, phase-shifting ...
| | Mudvayne Lost And Found CD (2005)
Three Days Grace
$8.99 Drummer Matt McDonough and bassist Ryan Martinie play as if they are the same person, tossing off impossibly complex lock-step riffs ("Determined," "Just") like most bands hit an open E chord. On "Happy?" and "Fall into Sleep," singer Chad Gray moves from a throat-shredding rasp to sweet melodicism at the drop of a hat, taking angst-filled lyrics to new heights of dark obsession. Luckily, despite the inherent negativity of Gray's words, the seemingly boundless energy and impressive musicianship of LOST AND FOUND make for an uplifting listening experience.
While some of its rap-metal ...

| | Three Days Grace One - X CD (2006) Enhanced CD
Three Days Grace
$9.69 The 2006 sophomore effort from alt-metal outfit Three Days Grace holds steady on the muscular guitars, accessible melodies, and dark themes of the band's debut. Fans of the first album will find more of the group's sound--which owes a debt to both Alice in Chains and nu-metal bands like Godsmack--to like here, but a sharper ...
| | Breaking Benjamin Phobia CD (2006)
Three Days Grace
$12.59 On its third full-length album, PHOBIA, the Pennsylvania-based heavy-rock act Breaking Benjamin offers up another potent round of moody, riff-laden tunes. While "The Diary of Jane" revels in sheer ferocity and recalls Bush, the emotive "Breath" carries echoes of early Tool, revealing that the ensemble is intent on staying true to its 1990s alt-metal forebears. Although these influences place the group, led by emotive vocalist ...

Six months before becoming an overnight sensation following a blistering set at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, Big Brother was an unknown group from San Francisco playing a month-long Chicago club engagement. The band, made up of bassist Peter Albin, drummer David Getz, and guitarists James Gurley and Sam Andrew, was completed when the quartet was introduced to singer Janis Joplin by mutual friend Chet Helms.
When their gig was cut short, Big Brother avoided returning to California when Bob Shad signed the group to Mainstream Records, his small, struggling jazz label. The three-day recording session in December 1966 resulted in a set of mostly original songs, with the exception of New York City street musician Moondog's ...
