Argentine musician Pescado Rabioso plays his passionate and rich songs on this nine-track release.
Although Artaud was officially billed as the third Pescado Rabioso album, the Argentinean group had actually broken up by the time it was recorded. It's essentially a solo effort by singer-guitarist-songwriter Luis Alberto Spinetta, with contributions from his brother, drummer Carlos Gustavo Spinetta, bassist Emilio Del Guercio, and drummer Rodolfo García, the latter two of whom had played with Spinetta back in the pre-Pescado Rabioso band Almendra. If it's something of a progressive/psychedelic record, it has more to do with the juxtaposition of late-'60s and early-'70s styles on display than it has to do with the music itself. On various different tracks, Spinetta offers accomplished, sentimental acoustic-based folk-rock balladry ("Todas las Hojas Son del Viento"); languid jazzy San Francisco-styled mild psych ("Cementerio Club," "Bajan") with quavering guitar; folk-rock with a touch of late-'60s Lennon-McCartney at their most romantic ("La Sed Verdadera"); a piano-backed piece that recalls early Todd Rundgren at his softest ("A Starosta, El Idiota"); and a taut Latin-flavored rocker vaguely reminiscent of early Santana ("Las Habladurias del Mundo"). There's a little weirdness here, but it's limited to just a few spots, like the gradual submersion of "La Sed Verdadera" under ambient restaurant-like white noise and howling wind, and the sudden detour of "A Starosta, El Idiota" into gloomy dissonant piano rumbles, weeping, along with a far-off snatch of the Beatles' "She Loves You" single. ~ Richie Unterberger

But the mini LP sleeve should be bigger size, just like the japanese ones.
For collectors of mini LP CD's this shape is to small to bear and protect your CD with an inner sleeve.

Bajo la música inspirada de Spinetta
Un hermoso disco tanto por su presentación como por la un poco más de medio hora de Música de la banda de Spinetta (Pescado Rabioso), que bajo estructuras simples va creando una atmósfera envolvente, no por nada este disco ha sido admirado por distintas generaciones y considerado un pilar fundamental en la historia del rock argentino.

without a doubt, the best rock album that argentina ever gave birth to.
it keeps a special feeling trough the whole album, reaching a peak in "cantata de puentes amarillos", which is really a beautiful song formed by many parts.
i recommend this to, not only anyone who is interested in argentinian rock music, but to anyone who is interested in any type of music.

After all, the thing Bob Dylan loves most of all are songs that are handed down from generation to generation, songs that are part of the American fabric, songs so common they never seem to have been written. The first of a very good two-volume collection of some of the Andrews Sisters' best work, this 16-song CD was more than essential at the time of its release, mostly due to the presence of several numbers that hadn't been heard in decades: "Pagan Love Song," "Shoo Shoo Baby," "Bounce Me Brother With a Solid Four," "Gimme Some Skin My Friend," their rendition of "Tuxedo Junction," and their Danny Kaye and Al Jolson collaborations, "Civilization" and "Way Down Yonder In New Orleans." Apart from the Jolson number, which was in release in 1956, none of the others had been available since the 1940s, and all were worth hearing. Among the previously "lost" tracks, "Pagan Love Song" as a boogie-woogie style number is worth the price of the disc by itself, and "Tuxedo Junction" isn't far behind, Patty Andrews luxuriating in the lead while her sisters wrap their voices around hers like a second skin and Vic Schoen's arrangement provides playful accompaniment by the trumpets and saxes. "Gimme Some Skin My Friend" and "Bounce Me Brother With a Solid Four" are unique Andrews Sisters creations, authored by Don Raye (of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" fame) and nearly as successful in their use of early-'40s slang.
