| | An Evening With The Kingston Trio CD (1962)
Mad About Tadd: The Compositions Of Tadd Dameron
$14.29 The Kingston Trio: John Stewart, Bob Shane, Nick Reynolds. This is a mono recording that has been mastered using Digital Stereo Reverberation, thus creating a simulated stereo image. There's no exact date or venue mentioned, but this 1962 concert recording, featuring the Nick Reynolds/Bob Shane/John Stewart version of the trio, is a lively account of the group's work. The 15 numbers here, including "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," "Tom Dooley," "Wimoweh," "Scotch and Soda," "Reuben James," "The Merry Minuet," "MTA," and "The Wagoner Lad," involve a lot of jokey asides (including a still-funny contemporary reference to Jack Paar during "MTA"), shouting, and mugging for the microphone that worked better visually. It's all in good fun, however, and the material is sung and played with lots of enthusiasm, which proves fairly infectious. This disc has more excitement than the trio's earlier Newport appearance, ...

| | Shadows Fall Seeking The Way: The Greatest Hits CD (2007)
Mad About Tadd: The Compositions Of Tadd Dameron
$10.75 Shadows Fall: David Germain, Derek Kirswell, Brian Fair , Matthew Bachand, Jonathan Donais, Paul Romanko, Jason Bittner. By the time SEEKING THE WAY: THE GREATEST HITS was released, Shadows Fall had honed its brand of metal over the course of its five studio albums (not to mention quite a bit of touring). Although Shadows Fall are influenced by thrash, hardcore, and death metal, the band is most devoted to old-school metal sensibilities, and SEEKING THE WAY is a great overview of their hard-hitting mixture. With their twin guitar leads and snatches of melody, tracks like "Of One Blood" and "Thoughts Without Words" recall Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. But Shadows Fall are no mere retro act; in fact ...
