Principally recorded at Rock Land, Chicago, Illinois; Conjunction, Los Angeles, California and Tracken Place, Hollywood, California.
JS stands for the Johnson Sisters, Kim and Kandy, two young and harmonious R&B vocalists learned in the art of couching subtly (and often not-so-subtly) suggestive bits of innuendo in the sweetest, lightest, most innocent beats. Though young, the two sisters have been singing together since childhood and have a bit of a history in the music biz, doing session work for many artists, including Christina Aguilera before being discovered by soul legend Ronald Isley.
Considering the subject and the tenor of the lyrics, it's not overly surprising that controversial, if undeniably talented, R. Kelly has his hands all over JS's debut ICE CREAM, writing and producing the majority of the tracks, including the title track and debut single. Dripping in soulful sensuality, but sweet as confectioner's sugar, "Ice Cream" spills double-entendre after double entendre over a nursery rhyme backbeat. The sisters go even further on the R. Kelly-esque "Slow Grind;" the title pretty much sums up the fetching jam. "Love Angel" and "Someone" show the duo capable of simple love songs as well. Overall, JS provides an alluringly physical debut in the vein of TLC on ICE CREAM.

Ice Cream album
$9.59 DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album. "Dangerously In Love" won for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. "The Closer I Get To You" won for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals. "Crazy In Love" won for Best R&B Song and for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. The song was also nominated for Record of the Year.
Besides deft, pitch-perfect hit songs, the talented if volatile Destiny's Child was remarkable for its unpredictability, not always a defining characteristic of mainstream R&B. While there was certainly a formula at play in the songs, the structure was subtly unstable, never ...

| | Isley Brothers Body Kiss CD (2003)
Ice Cream music CDs
$6.79 BODY KISS was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. "Busted" was nominated for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals.
Looking to recapture the same success generated by the 2001 album ETERNAL, The Isley Brothers re-team with and hand off the majority of production duties to R. Kelly for 2003's BODY KISS. Although the group's name indicates a sibling venture with Ronald and Ernie Isley, guitarist Ernie's involvement is minimal. His only appearance is a signature guitar solo on the simmering slow jam "Take a Ride." Otherwise, Ronald, (who resurrects his fictional, video-spawned alter ego ...
| | Anthony Hamilton Comin' From Where I'm From CD (2003)
Ice Cream songs
$9.59 COMIN' FROM WHERE I'M FROM was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album. "Comin' From Where I'm From" was nominated for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance and for Best R&B Song.
Anthony Hamilton grew up in North Carolina, caught the eye of record companies, and released a major-label record in 1997, XTC, which was critically lauded, but mostly forgotten and quickly out-of-print. Following this setback, Hamilton hung around the music biz, working on his songwriting and background vocals, until his big break came in 2002, singing the hook for the Nappy Roots hit "Po' Folks."
The music on his second album, COMIN' FROM ...
