| | Melanie Fiona Bridge CD (2009)
Hall Of Fame CD music
$9.99 Melanie Fiona's debut single, "Give It to Me Right," was a perfect 2009 pop-R&B recording. The single coupled a timeless classic (the Zombies' "Time of the Season") with roof-raising vocals and infectious pop hooks that stuck like peanut butter. Fiona's single was perfect, albeit a touch formulaic. Because ...

| | Chris Brown Graffiti CD (2009)
Hall Of Fame songs
$11.18 Most of Graffiti is a natural progression for Chris Brown. Like many young cred-seeking male singers who have just exited their teenage years, Brown emphasizes womanizing and hedonism and balances it out with a couple clean and empty ballads, as well as a couple relatively lighthearted Europop numbers. A handful of songs deal with his relationship with Rihanna, as well as the fallout from his assault of her. ~ Andy Kellman
Most of Graffiti -- that is, the songs that do not detail what ex-girlfriend Rihanna and the rest of the world have done to him -- is a natural progression for Chris Brown. Like many young cred-seeking male singers who ...

Hall Of Fame CD music
$27.59 Detroit-based hip-hop star Hush draws on his mentor Eminem--who produced BULLETPROOF--to lay down some infectious grooves on this debut recording.
Whether it is on his own or with his crew Da Ruckus, rapper Hush has been in the game since 1993. There are 12 long years of hard work and missed opportunities -- including a one-year federal prison sentence for robbery -- leading up to his debut, and the hungry Bulletproof sounds like an album that's been itching to bust out for over a decade, sometimes to a fault. One more reflective number would have fleshed out Hush's character more, but Bulletproof isn't so much about looking back as it is forward, along with living in the now. The "living in the now" part comes from worthy club numbers like the Jay-Z-flavored "Let It Breathe" and the very Eminem "Off to Tijuana," which not only features D12 but also sounds like it could have fallen off their last album. D12 member Bizarre guests on "Real T.V." and declares it "real Detroit ghetto sh*t," which the track most certainly is, but the album as a whole is put together with an attitude that's less gutter. Skit-free and with a tight track list, Bulletproof is concise and out to prove something, almost to the point that it's demanding classic ...

Hall Of Fame music CDs
$15.25 While rhythm & blues has a pedigree stretching back to the dawn of the 20th century, it was only in the late '30s that smaller groups began jumping with the energy of swing and the spirit of the blues. The Birth of Rhythm & Blues, a three-disc box from Golden Stars, trawls through the subsequent decade and casts a wide net over the jazz, blues, and vocal tracks that made R&B the hot combination to watch for years to come. Of the handful of tracks necessary for a proper look at early R&B, this one has nearly all of them -- "The Honeydripper" by Joe Liggins, "Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bop" by Lionel Hampton, "Caldonia" by Louis Jordan, "Harlem Nocturne" by the Johnny Otis Band, "Call It Stormy Monday" by T-Bone Walker, "Drifting Blues" by Johnny Moore & the Three Blazers, and "Good Rockin' Tonight" by Wynonie Harris. The other inclusions in the 48-track box are barely less crucial; R&B's roots in weekend partying are apparent in dynamite songs like "Saturday Night Fish Fry" by Louis Jordan, ...
