| | Playstation 2 Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution (PS2) (6 Customer Reviews)
Evolution delivers the same deep fighting experience as Virtua Fighter 4 but with a few changes and a wealth of additions. Two new fighters--Goh Hinogami, and Brad Burns--are newly available, and both offer unique and challenging fighting styles for the player to master. Kumite mode is replaced by the new Quest mode, where your character can travel around different arcades in Japan and work up to battling in tournaments. Over 1500 new costume items have been included, which can be collected in Quest mode. Computer AI has been improved, as it has been modeled after some of the top tournament players in Japan. COMPRENLO si no tienes virtua Fighter 4 y si ya lo tienes compra soul calibur 2 Submitted by Raulitoon (Cuernavaca, Morelos, México) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Highly Technical and Complex! Let me start off by saying you will never be able to truly appreciate this fighting game if you're looking for a pick-up-and-play kind of value. The underlying mechanics of the game make certain that anybody who understands them to a degree will put button mashers at a severe disadvantage. Aiming to overwhelm your opponent by learning all the moves won't work either. There are only 15 fighters to choose from, but each fighter has their own unique style, distinct strengths and weaknesses, and technique. It almost feels like learning the game all over again when you choose to play with a new fighter. The graphics are beautiful but down-to-earth; you won't be seeing fighters throwing fireballs at each other or flying across the screen. Virtua Fighter 4 is the most realistic fighting game series. Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution smoothens the jaggies, hence improving the graphics a bit. The training mode in VF4: Evolution is even better than it was in VF4. Pick a fighter to train with, and you can choose to be walked through each and every technique. You'll even be given advice on how to perform a technique if you aren't doing it right. After you've learned some moves, you can train in intermediate tactics. Since it's a more realistic and technical fighter that others, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution isn't for everybody. If you prefer the pick-up-and-play appeal of the old Street Fighter 2 or the new Soul Caliber 2, be warned that Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution is meant to be learned for a while before thoroughly enjoyed. If you enjoy depth and realism in your fighting games, then go for Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. Submitted by Chan (Miami, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
