Patti Page spent the middle 60s and early 70s at Columbia Records, where she had several "Easy Listening" radio airplay "hits" and recorded some delightful albums. These are two of them. Patti was probably the first true "Crossover" artist ... before the term ever existed. She blended her country heritage with pop tunes and produced a unique sound. Although the hits had stopped by the time she moved to Columbia, her consummate good taste and performing ability were at their peak These LPs consist primarily of "cover" records (Patti's versions of contemporary hits) and were played heavily by middle of the road radio stations trying to stay relevant. After 30+ years, they hold up beautifully in the digital format. Patti fans will welcome their rebirth.

 CLASSIC POP COUNTRY FROM PATTI PAGE
Thanks to Collectibles we have two more of Patti Page's great Columbia albums from the later 60s. Patti's Columbia LP TODAY MY WAY contained her readings of many of the pop and country hits of the day. An original, EXCUSE ME, ws released as a single with GENTLE ON MY MIND as the B side. It took some time but DJs began playing the B side and a new Patti Page hit was born. The single of GENTLE ON MY MIND hit the Top 10 of Billboards Adult Contemporary chart and remained on the Billboard HOT 100 for 16 weeks eventually resulting in another Columbia LP titled GENTLE ON MY MIND. The TODAY MY WAY lp also included a classic easy listening hit SAME OLD YOU as well as another easy listening chart hit ALL THE TIME. The standout on the lp however was and is I HADN'T ANYTHING BETTER TO DO. The second lp covered here is HONEY COME BACK.....all the songs were recent or current hits. Stand out performances of the Beatles SOMETHING, COME SATURDAY MORNING, WINTER WORLD OF LOVE and HONEY COME BACK are every bit as wonderous as the original hits. AND you get 3 unreleased tracks including the Springfields ON THE OTHER SIDE, Jim Webb's UP UP AND AWAY and TOY BALLOON. Another great thank you to Sony and Collectibles for releasing these magnificent Patti Page lps on CD!!!
