After an unknown force stops the Earth from rotating, scientists must travel to the core to save the planet. DVD special features inlcude director's commentary, two featurettes, 10 deleted/extended scenes. Stars Hilary Swank, Aaron Eckhart, Delroy Lindo, Alfre Woodard and Stanley Tucci. Weird phenomena lead a brilliant geophysics professor, Dr. Josh Keyes (Aaron Eckhart), to the discovery that the Earth's core has stopped revolving, ultimately resulting in severe natural disasters and radiation akin to that of a microwave--and the end of the world. Keyes' worst fears are confirmed by superstar scientist Dr. Conrad Zimsky (Stanley Tucci), who turns to his former partner, Dr. Ed Brazzleton (Delroy Lindo), who has devoted twenty years to creating a ship that can journey to the center of the Earth. The U.S. government, whose secret experiments, unbeknownst to all of the team but Zimzky, may have caused the problem, builds the ship at record speed and sends a team in to set off nuclear bombs that will restart the core. Astronauts Colonel Robert Iverson (Bruce Greenwood) and Major Rebecca Childs (Hilary Swank), and a nuclear weapons specialist, Dr. Serge Leveque (Tcheky Karyo) are also assigned to the mission, which promises both spectacular discoveries and tremendous danger. Witty one-liners save the film from taking itself too seriously while the special effects keep the action exciting. Directed by Jon Amiel (COPYCAT, ENTRAPMENT), THE CORE also stars Alfre Woodard, DJ Qualls, and Richard Jenkins. Core Reviews: "...The movie's deepest impact lies in the performances..."

Core Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A VERY GOOD MOVIE!!! This Movie really surprised me. It was really pretty good. It was alot better than your average run-of-the-mill Disater Movies. Hilary Swank played a convincing part as a navigator, whose never lost atttitude, pushs the crew to their limits and beyond. A very good directed and produced movie that Action/Adventure viewers should add to their collection. Submitted by ELB6 (New Oxford, Pa. USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Disater Movie If you are looking for a good disater movie, with great special effects, this is one that you must have in your collection. The acting is great, and I found only one part of this movie hard to watch( that is when the inventer of the machine goes into the crawl passage and is cooked alive) Submitted by cindywill2343 (Edmonton. Loved this movie I sometimes feel I live on the wrong planet. This movie bombed at the theaters but I loved it. Great production values and fun characters. Maybe the movie studios could hire me to look at there new films and if I like it, shelve it. Ho hum. Submitted by wrw60 (San Francisco) Was This Review Helpful? Worse than Chinese water torture This was a serious movie? That can't be right. The whole premise is ridiculous, how in God's name could the Earth's core stop spinning to begin with? Effects are decent, but visuals don't make a movie. This Godawful film could pass as a spoof of a disaster movie. Don't buy it. Submitted by a reviewer (New York) Was This Review Helpful? $11.39 In UNDERWORLD, a dark and Gothic monster action movie, vampires and lycans--an ancient form of werewolf--are at war. While the vampires inhabit a gigantic castle that houses their ancestor's tombs, the lycans live underground in a dilapidated sewer cave. Both teams are equipped with big guns, and they are constantly innovating deadlier bullets to gain advantage over each other. On the vampire side, the leather-clad death agent Selene (Kate Beckinsale) delegates teams of vamps to attack the lycans. But when she discovers that the lycans have kidnapped a human medical student, Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman), she knows the worst is on its way. Against the orders of her superior, Kraven (Shane Brolly), who is obsessively in love with Selene, she awakens the most powerful vampire of all time, Viktor (Bill Nighy) and prepares for a massive feud against lycan leader Lucian (Michael Sheen).
Director Len Wiseman offers a tough, fast, and gory addition to the horror-fantasy genre with UNDERWORLD. Impressive special effects show the lycans transforming from humans to werewolves, and the lycans' ability to squeeze silver bullets ...

$8.79 It's been a long, strange trip since Darren Aronofsky last invited viewers into his cinematic world--six years in fact--but THE FOUNTAIN is sure to enchant, beguile, and inspire intense debate among his patient fans. During the frustrating gap since 2000's REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, Aronofsky has struggled to bring THE FOUNTAIN to the screen, principally because leading man Brad Pitt dropped out of the project. The complex tale is split into three different time periods, beginning in the 16th century, when a conquistador named Tomas (Hugh Jackman) strives to find the Tree of Life. The second part of the story finds Jackman playing a Buddha-like character who zips through outer space and dreams of a woman named Izzi (Rachel Weisz). And the third part, which consumes most of the film's screen time, is set in the present day and sees Jackman playing a doctor named Tommy, who is married to the terminally-ill Izzi. In this third section Tommy strives to find a cure for Izzi's brain tumor, and makes some progress after experimenting on a monkey with a substance discovered in a tree in South America. Meanwhile, Izzi has been writing a book that she calls THE FOUNTAIN, but has left the final chapter for Tommy to write.
As Aronofsky pushes and pulls his sepia-tinted film between the three time periods, he weaves a deeply thoughtful, special effects-laden story that touches on themes of mortality and self, and requires a great deal of work from the director's audience. Movies such as Kubrick's 2001 and Tarkovsky's SOLARIS come to mind ...

$32.59 Containing one of the most instantly recognizable intro sequences to a TV show ("Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!"), THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN was the first attempt to bring the comic book character to television screens. This first season originally aired in 1952, and established great cinematic characters such as Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and of course Clark Kent himself. By day Kent attempts to live an anonymous existence as a reporter for the Daily Planet, but when trouble comes calling, he transforms into Superman, the last survivor from the planet Krypton.
George Reeves convincingly played Superman throughout the first season of the show, and he returned to play the Man of Steel in all of the subsequent Seasons. Although it soon turned into a laugh-fest, this first series of adventures takes a serious approach to the characters, mirroring later interpretations such as LOIS & CLARK from the 1990s. Hugely popular in its day, this complete collection of episodes from the first season of THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN affords viewers the chance to wallow in some awesome retro TV action.
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman! The legendary Man of Steel, last survivor of the doomed planet Krypton lives on earth, assuming the secret identity of Clark ...
