(32 Customer Reviews)
As the electric guitar ace Joe Bonamassa was so strongly inspired by blues and blues-oriented six-stringers (i.e., Clapton, Johnny Winter), many of his fans would politely pester him about doing a disc of blues standards. Originally done as a lark, the results of such a session were deemed by Bonamassa good enough to be released--hence, BLUES DELUXE, on which he covers some lesser-known songs and includes three originals. Of course, his fierce, scorching guitar is center stage. If axe-men such as Peter Green, Rory Gallagher, and Buddy Guy are your cup of tea, this DELUXE item is a necessity.
Recorded at Unique Studios, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Harris Cohen.
Personnel: Joe Bonamassa (vocals, guitar); Jon Paris (harmonica); Benny harrison (Hammond B-3 organ); Eric Czar (electric bass); Kenny Kramme (drums).
Joe Bonamassa Blues Deluxe Songs Blues Deluxe Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Blasting from the launchpad Joe Bonamassa is a lad who takes his blues seriously. I had a great time watching him play live and was very impressed by both his vocals and blistering leads. Never once did he work himself into a corner. His side men are also top notch. Anyone who is a blues or rock fan will instintly see that he has done his home work and has crafted a style you wouldn't forget. If you haven't heard of him, I think you soon will. Excellent blues from a young man. This artist is gifted. I now have all of his music and can't decide which is best. You can't go wrong with this CD. Submitted by Debra R. (Gainesville, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 3 of 3 found this helpful.
First you buy this album... ... because it's really good, but then... see Joe live. "Woke up Dreaming" is less than three minutes on this CD, but it's over nine minutes in person, with guitar work you've never, ever seen before. Absolutely amazing!
This guy is a talent as great as any guitarist you'd care to name, but he's also a really nice, down-to-earth guy. And he's almost always on the road, so check out his website, and when he comes within a hundred miles of your home, make the trip. It'll be worth it. Great blues to sink your teeth into!!!! As a Chris Duarte and Kenny Wayne Shepherd fan, I bought this album to satisfy my need for the blues in between thier albums. One of the best overall blues/rock albums I've ever heard. Great guitar and smooth vocals. I've since bought all of Bonamassa's recordings, but this one is no doubt his finest!!! excellent young guitarist Joe Bonamassa is an excellent young guitarist who fills a void left by Stevie Ray Vaughn. His first two albums were bluesy, but had more of a rock/pop sound. This is straight blues dedicated to alot of the old blues greats.Good versatility with some slow blues, faster stuff, slide and acoustic guitar. With so much horrible music out there it's great to hear an artist like Joe B.I look forward to his music for years to come. Blues Deluxe album
$14.45 Despite his statement in the liner notes that "In an era where it is best to play it safe, I chose to take a risk...," there isn't much surprising or risky about young guitarist Joe Bonamassa's fifth studio album. Most of his previous releases have mixed blues covers with his own originals, all played with a rocker's attitude, volume and less-than-subtle approach. This one follows suit and even though he goes on to say that he "wanted to make a blues album, not a rock album that has blues on it," as in the past; it's impossible to claim that he has succeeded with You & Me. That doesn't make this a bad or disappointing disc; quite the contrary, ...
