Santana: Carlos Santana (guitar, congas, timbales, percussion, background vocals); Greg Walker (vocals); Tom Coster (Fender Rhodes piano, Hammond B-3 organ, ARP synthesizer, Mini-Moog synthesizer, vibraphone, marimba, background vocals); Pablo Tellez, David Margen (bass); Graham Lear (drums, percussion); Raul Rekow (bongos, congas, surdo, percussion, cowbell, background vocals); Jose "Chepito" Areas (congas, timbales, bell tree); Pete Escovedo (timbales, guiro, maracas). Producers: Carlos Santana, Tom Coster, David Rubinson, Glen Kolotkin. Recorded at CBS Studios, San Francisco, California and live at Hammersmith-Odeon, London, England between 1976 & 1977. Originally released on Columbia (34915). Includes liner notes by Hal Miller. Santana, which was renowned for its concert work dating back to Woodstock, did not release a live album in the U.S. until this one, and it's only partially live, with studio tracks added, notably a cover of the Zombies' "She's Not There" (number 27) that became Santana's first Top 40 hit in five years. The usual comings and goings in band membership had taken place since last time; the track listing was a good mixture of the old -- "Black Magic Woman," "Soul Sacrifice" -- and the recent, and with the added radio play of a hit single, Moonflower went Top Ten and sold a million copies, the first new Santana album to do that since 1972 and the last until Supernatural in 1999. ~ William RuhlmannRolling Stone (10/2/03, p.123) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...Santana and Company return wholeheartedly to their Latin and rock roots..." Q (1/00, p.140) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...lengthy tongue-out soloing and one-love hippy vibes....the hits sound as joyful as ever and the carnival spirit fuses both live and studio cuts into one seamless whole." This is Carlos I've been a fan of Carlos since he showed up in the U.S. and this is the album I've loved the best of them all, which is hard to say but it's true. There are other recordings that are hot, but the line-up and the clear recordings in this is awesome!! This is my only copy I have anymore, but I can play this whenever I want and still float like I did when it was 1st released!!
ENJOY!! Submitted by Geo Eak (St. Louis, Mo. USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | England Dan Nights Are Forever CD (1976)
Moonflower
$9.69 Nights Are Forever was the breakthrough album for Dan Seals and John Coley after some sincere and excellent work on A&M Records in the early '70s. Two of their biggest hits were the title track and the beautiful "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight." Those songs are a good indication of the fine performances this 1976 album contains. The duo's originals like "Long Way Home" and the Dan Fogelberg-ish "Westward Wind" could have been hits as well displaying superb musicianship and delicate vocals. This album is very much a companion ...

| | Stan Kenton Cool Hot And Swingin' CD (2007)
Moonflower
$12.35 By Jack Bowers — All About Jazz.comCool Hot & Swingin\', a medley of Stan Kenton treasures from Bill Lichtenauer\'s ever-resourceful Tantara Productions, recaps a splendid concert performance in February 1956 at the Civic Auditorium in San Bernardino,CA.This was a time when Kenton had pared the trombone and reed sections to four members each and added twoFrench horns and a tuba, a departure that lasted about a year. It was also a time when the great Bill Holman, with whom Kenton didn’t always see eye-to-eye when it came to composing and arranging, was writing the lion’s share of the charts, and a dozen of the seventeen presented here are Holman’s, including at least four that have come to be widely regarded as classics--“What’s New,”“Stompin’ at the Savoy” and his own “Theme and Variations” and “The Opener” (played at slower than usual tempo). In a career as leader that spanned thirty-five years, Kenton never fronted an orchestra that was less than admirable, and this one is no exception, with first-class musicians in every chair. In his liner notes, Michael Sparke praises a number of the soloists--trombonist Carl Fontana, alto saxophonist Lennie Niehaus, tenor Bill Perkins--and ...
