While all Wiggles albums share common elements -- tons of verve, infectious singalong melodies, the power to create pictures in young minds -- Wiggly, Wiggly World! finds the Australian kids music kings at the top of their game. A combination of sprightly originals and adaptations (co-presented by the original artists), this album skips along at a peppy pace. There's some great variety here, but it all gets the Wiggles treatment, making the disc as seamless and coherent as the foursome's more thematic albums. Kids with any affection for the Wiggles' music -- and that's a big club! -- will be enthralled by Wiggly, Wiggly World! from start to finish. It's ultra bubbly, mucho catchy, and, yes, educational. Not to mention ethnically diverse. Australian country legend Slim Dusty chips in with his hearty hit "(I Love to Have a Beer With) Duncan," which here becomes "I Love to Have a Dance With Dorothy." Meanwhile, Torres Strait Islander Christine Anu sings the traditional song "Taba Naba" and former Split Enz frontman, New Zealander Tim Finn, gets Captain Feathersword quite excited with his pop hit "Six Months in a Leaky Boat." For some fair dinkum Aussie fun, Rolf Harris breaks out his famous wobble board for his Down Under classic "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport," while Japanese singer Atsuko Arai presents the beautiful "Haru Ga Kita." And of course the boys in the bright-colored skivvies bring plenty of their own songs to the party. It's a kiddie disco with irresistible numbers like "In the Wiggles' World," "In the Big Red Car We Like to Ride," and the hilarious "Blow Me Down." Highly recommended for ages one to 100. | | Wiggles Let's Wiggle CD (2000)
Wiggly, Wiggly, World CD music
$9.89 This U.S. collection of early Wiggles material offers up 22 sunny songs, the majority of which are under two minutes in length. Not a concept disc like most of the group's releases, Let's Wiggle nevertheless reflects many of the ideas that the children's music superstars from Australia would later expand on. Hence, you'll find bright original numbers for the tots to dance to, some traditional songs, and a dash of ethnic variety. Most of the numbers are cheery but there are also some more laid-back cuts, such as the peaceful "The Dreaming Song" (a reference to the legendary "dream time" of the Australian Aborigine people), complete with didgeridoo. The guys "sugar up" rock & roll, country, folk, and other musical forms as they deliver such goodies as the bouncy big-band number "Get Ready to Wiggle," ...
| | Wiggles Wiggly Safari CD (2002)
Wiggly, Wiggly, World music CDs
$10.19 On this release, the Wiggles joined forces with The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, which makes sense since they are all from Australia. For the most part the music is pure Wiggles with added comments from Irwin and his wife, Terri Irwin. The Wiggles are smart enough to not stray away from their popular formula, but by adding Steve Irwin they are able to keep their music and CDs interesting. The Wiggles write perfect children's music. The songs are ...
| | Wiggles Hoop Dee Doo CD (2002)
Wiggly, Wiggly, World songs
$9.99 The Wiggles' fifth album, Hoop-Dee-Doo! It's a Wiggly Party, features more of their sing and dance-along songs and distinctly down under sense of humor. From traditional favorites like "La Cucaracha" and "Marie's Wedding" to quirky originals like "Move Like an Emu," Hoop-Dee-Doo! It's a Wiggly Party offers plenty of ...

| | Wiggles Go To Sleep Jeff CD (2003)
Wiggly, Wiggly, World CD music
$9.99 For Go to Sleep Jeff, the Wiggles put aside their usual high-energy fare and present a set of lush lullabies. The tracks are first presented with spoken introductions -- in the form of explanations, scene setting, or guided meditations -- and then repeated without the intros. Suffused with dreamy orchestration and soothing backing vocals by the Manzillas, this mix of songs and instrumental pieces (with the emphasis heavily on the former), comes right out of the sandman's own record collection. And, in keeping ...

Wiggly, Wiggly, World CD music
$14.55 ABC Music, the two-disc, 32-track compilation of Stereolab's BBC Radio 1 sessions from July 1991 to August 2001, is a surprisingly illuminating and listenable set. Although this may come as a shock to some casual listeners, Stereolab can be a ferocious live band, and their trademark blend of Krautrock, easy listening, and Brazilian influences (in different proportions throughout their career) usually has an added aggressiveness in a live setting. This is particularly apparent on the earliest tracks, including an outstanding version of their early signature tune "Super Electric" on which the Neu!-like motorik pulse is buttressed by some almost punky guitar work by co-leader Tim Gane. Several tracks appear in embryonic versions, with a very ...

| | Happy Accidents Scitactics CD (2003) (Import) United Kingdom
Wiggly, Wiggly, World songs
$24.95 Although the Happy Accidents only formed in the mid-'90s, the group's roots in the progressive Canterbury music scene stretch back to the very beginning: keyboardist and group leader Graham Flight was in the pioneering Wilde Flowers, having replaced Kevin Ayers in 1965. The group's second album, Scitatics, mixes the playfulness and turn-on-a-dime dynamics of Hatfield and the North with the restless experimental qualities of Henry Cow and the aggressive noisiness of the Rock in Opposition cadre of bands, blending it all into a challenging, ...
