This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath" which arguably features more full-on Irishness than the Dublin production of RIVERDANCE. There's also a lovely rendition of Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" that's topped only by Ron Wood's reappearance ...

In 1985, NASA commissioned planetarium composer Jonn Serrie to write music for the Teacher in Space program that eventually posited Christa McAuliffe among the Challenger crew. The 1986 Challenger tragedy deeply affected Serrie, who went on to write this body of music as a way of honoring the dead and working through his grief. This, Serrie's first album, became a classic in the "space music" genre, and kicked off a successful and influential recording career.
With a minimalist's sense of economy and a visionary's knack for dealing with large, unfamiliar spaces, Serrie allows the vastness of the cosmos to speak for itself. Synthesizers ring and glimmer searchingly, conveying awe and hope. The 2002 release of AND THE STARS is remastered for an even crisper, more sparkling sound, and includes the bonus track, "And With You 2," which essentially continues the title track's forward-looking wistfulness.

His electronic work leans decidedly towards an ambient sound, but the Latin and Caribbean-style acoustic beats on songs such as "Facing the Sun" imply a strong world element.
