Charlie (Eddie Murphy) and Phil (Jeff Garlin) are so consumed by their high profile advertising jobs that they are completely missing out on the joys of fatherhood. In the wonderful new family comedy Daddy Day Care, however, their kids provide them with a crash course in child rearing, with uproarious and heartwarming results. Advertising executive Charlie Hinton (Eddie Murphy) leads an idyllic suburban life with his wife, Kim (Regina King), and adorable 4-year-old son, Ben (Khamani Griffin). But when Charlie and his buddy, Phil (Jeff Garlin) are let go from their jobs and can no longer afford to send their offspring to ritzy Chapman Academy Preschool, they decide to start their own day care center out of Charlie's house. Things get off to a rocky start, but pick up when word gets out about the affordable rates they offer. Their sci-fi geek pal Marvin (Steve Zahn) jumps on board to help entertain the tots. But competitive Chapman headmistress Miss Harridan (Anjelica Huston) and a by-the-books child services inspector (Jonathan Katz) make sure that Charlie and Phil encounter plenty of hurdles.
Continuing the family-friendly winning streak that Murphy began with the NUTTY PROFESSOR and DR. DOOLITTLE films, DADDY DAY CARE is yet another light comedy for children and parents alike. Quaintly peppered with potty and breast jokes--but with no offensive language--the film allows Murphy's appealing soft side to show once again, and his interaction with his young costars is never less than winning. A handful of fellow Saturday Night Live alumni show up to help (Kevin Nealon, Laura Kightlinger, Siobhan Fallon), and the always-strong Steve Zahn delivers several of the film's best moments. Theatrical Release: MAY 9, 2003 Daddy Day Care Reviews: "[T]he dots are joined efficiently, the anklebiters likeable and Garlin a natural talent."
-- Daniel Webb, Total Film "...[What is] revelatory about Mr. Murphy is how relaxed he is with children..."

| | Ozzy Osbourne Ozzmosis CD (1995) Remastered
Daddy Day Care video
$7.59 Let us all be thankful that Ozzy's retirement didn't stick. It supposedly lasted for three days, after which he got bored and started working on this project. Heavy, riff-intensive tunes, progressive song structures and a little psychedelia give OZZMOSIS a definite Sabbath flavor. Ozzy must have been in touch with whatever inspired early classics like PARANOID and MASTERS OF REALITY. Witness the extremely chunky "Thunder Underground," which can stand up next to "Sweet Leaf" and "Symptom Of The Universe" as an archetype of hard rock. The trippy guitar in "Ghost Behind My Eyes" and "Denial" are not some young Ozzy-wannabe going for a retro sound--this man was there, "Planet Caravan"ing.
Still, this heavy metal daddy in touch with his roots is also hip to the genre's latest sound. OZZMOSIS has a live, up-front feeling, thanks to producer Michael Beinhorn (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden). Zakk Wylde's huge, raw guitar also plays a major role. He provides scorching solos, lush textures and juicy fills with a muscular tone and minimal effects--the perfect complements to Osbourne's songwriting.
But more important than the raging guitars and the big sound is attitude. Ozzy's spunk has indeed rejected retirement. His songs still spew biting commentary at whoever will listen. "Your bulls**t culture licking can't stop the deathwatch ticking/You're only mortal after all," he warns on "Thunder Underground." Ozzy himself may not be immortal, but OZZMOSIS ...
| | Ozzy Osbourne The Ozzman Cometh CD (2002)
Daddy Day Care film
$9.69 THE OZZMAN COMETH is a single CD collection of hits, previously unavailable recordings and one new track. Previously included a limited edition second disc containing 2 of the 4 previously unavailable recordings as well as an interview with Ozzy Osbourne.
As if we needed another reason to believe that Ozzy Osbourne is God, along comes THE OZZMAN COMETH, a double CD retrospective of one of the most enduring and influential figures in heavy metal. Consisting mostly of his post-Black Sabbath solo work as well as a live version of "Paranoid," this collection's biggest asset is the so-called "basement tapes," never-before-heard rehearsal tapes of four classic Sabbath songs. Dating back to 1970, "Black Sabbath" and "War Pigs" are the songs that transformed a petty thief from Birmingham, England into the godfather of heavy metal.
But if Sabbath cemented his place in the rock 'n' roll canon, his solo work raised him to legendary status. Working with former Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads, Osbourne set the tone for the 80's metal revival with songs like "Crazy Train" and "Mr. Crowley." Capping off the collection is a seventeen minute interview with Ozzy from 1988, where he speaks frankly about the ups and downs in his career (parents be forewarned: this is not for the faint of heart). Ozzy has made it through all the pitfalls of a life in rock and roll and has come out on the other side redeemed and renewed.
Recorded between 1970 & 1995.

$27.69 Hugely influential, the work of Fritz Reiner has left an indelible impression on the history of classical music. | | Pretear - The Complete Collection DVDs (2003)
Daddy Day Care DVD
$26.05 Created by acclaimed animators Kaori Naruse and Junichi Sato (SAILOR MOON, KALEIDO STAR), the magical-girl anime series PRETEAR borrows from CINDERELLA and SNOW WHITE for an utterly unique sci-fi fairy tale. The series centers around 16-year-old Himeno, who is perfectly happy-go-lucky until her widowed father remarries and moves them to his new wife's palatial island estate. With a stern new stepmother and two stepsisters who either taunt or ignore her, Himeno thinks that things can't get any worse--until she is visited by seven mysterious men called the Leafe Knights. Led by the handsome but disdainful Hayate, the knights inform Himeno that she is a magical being with the power to help them battle the evil Princess of Disaster, who is spreading demon larvae in an effort to destroy the world's life force. Eschewing the genre's typical cutesiness for truly innovative storytelling bolstered by gorgeous animation and exciting action sequences, PRETEAR is the rare magical-girl anime that appeals to both male and female viewers. This collection presents the complete series for a total of 13 episodes.
