From The Front Row Live
$11.99 Digitally remastered by Jim Phillips (Universal Mastering Studios West, North Hollywood, California).
Although it omits three songs from the far less comprehensive (and deleted) 1983 12-track Best Of, and doesn't include any live or post-A&M music, this 2000 release stands as the final word on the Ozark Mountain Daredevils' career. Cherry-picking 21 tunes from their five studio album stint circa 1974-1978 -- with the lion's share coming from their first three albums and only three selections ...

Rafferty seems to have spent his life writing about his tribulations with the music business and the problems it caused with his relationships. This was the first of many albums, including those with Stealers Wheel, to address this subject. That should not cloud the enjoyment because some of his gentlest moments are here, such as 'Didn't I' and the lovely 'Mary Skeffington'. 'Sign On The Dotted ...

From The Front Row Live

This was recorded live in the studio, in the wake of the release of the Dolls' Todd Rundgren-produced eponymous debut album, not with an eye for release but more likely for radio broadcast. In any event, it's been bootlegged, at varying lengths, for years now, although this seems to be the complete set, and the sound here is actually quite good. Basically, this finds the Dolls at the top of their form before the drugs and lack of commercial success wore them down, with the buzzsaw guitars of Johnny Thunders and Syl Sylvain operating at peak unhinged efficiency, and frontman David Johanssen making the strongest possible case for the band's unique mix of R&B, '50s rock, proto punk, and glam.
SEVEN DAY WEEKEND was recorded live in the studio, ...

The Mavericks shook up country music in the 1990s with their combination of snappy, neo-traditional honky tonk and un-ironic retro pop-rock styles, and then went on an extended hiatus. 2003's THE MAVERICKS ...
