LIVE AT THE BLUE NOTE won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album.
This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
Fans of piano superman Michel Camilo had to wait a long time for this record, the first live album in his long career. The recording represents a series of firsts: in addition to premiering Camilo's live performance skills, it is his first documented work with the dynamic rhythm section of bassist Charles Flores and drummer Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez. It also features brand new compositions and radical re-working of old ones.
Captured during a weeklong tenure at the Blue Note in 2003, Camilo, Flores, and Hernandez display a stunning rapport reminiscent of the interplay between Bill Evans, Scott LeFaro, and Paul Motian on SUNDAY AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD. Much of the music is heavily Latin-flavored, as on the driving groove of "On the Other Hand," or the mix-match rhythms of "Dichotomy." A tongue-in-cheek rendition of "Tequila" keeps this superior artistry from getting too high-minded, reminding listeners that pleasure, joy, and human communication are at the root of Camilo's music.
Recorded live at The Blue Note, New York, New York in March 2003. Includes liner notes by John C. Bruening.

Just picked him up from a CDU recommendation. He is an excellent pianist with plenty of energy on the live album. Some nice latin rhythms throughout. If you like Pianists like Chucho Valdes, Benny Green even Monty - you won't be disappointed Submitted by gcorbet (Warwickshire England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

A must for MC fans! I just listened to this recording once but what a great performance. He's the virtuoso he's always been, but with the added maturity of the years. El Negro is impecable, and Flores, which I've never heard sounds like he's always played with Camilo. I highly recomend this double cd for anyone who likes latin azz, especially if your a fan of Michel Camilo. I'm just bummed this isn't out on DVD!! Live At The Blue Note album
$12.39 I REMEMBER MILES won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.
This stunning album is Shirley Horn's loving tribute to her friend and colleague, the legendary late Miles Davis. Davis was so taken by Horn's first album EMBERS AND ASHES that he forced The Village Vanguard to let her virtually-unknown trio open for him during his 1961 run there. Their friendship and admiration for each other's music lasted through the years, and Shirley Horn's 1991 recording YOU WON'T FORGET ME, was one of the last recordings Miles Davis made.
Horn selected mostly ballads from Davis' Columbia Records catalogue for her tribute because, as she explains in the liner notes, Davis liked her to sing ballads, and ballads are Horn's specialty. ...

Live At The Blue Note CD music
$15.39 ALEGRIA won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. "Sacajawea" won for Best Instrumental Composition.
ALEGRIA is a truly remarkable return to form for Wayne Shorter. Despite a number of missteps in the years since his acclaimed early-'60s releases JUJU and SPEAK NO EVIL, the revered tenor saxman and composer enjoyed a renaissance with 2002's well-received FOOTPRINTS LIVE and this collection of meticulously executed tunes. ALEGRIA recalls the Shorter of yore with its brainy, challenging arrangements and dexterous inside/outside musicianship. The opener "Sacajawea," for example, with its boogie rhythm and free-form solo explorations, gives ample ...

| | Charlie Haden Not In Our Name CD (2005)
Live At The Blue Note album
$15.35 Pianist Carla Bley is the only returning member of the original LMO. As before, she proves to be a triple threat with her dexterous playing, intuitive conducting, and inventive arrangements. Haden, of course, anchors these tunes (which include his own eclectic title track and a soulful rendition of "Amazing Grace") with his formidable--though never flashy--bass work, allowing the ...

$7.19 Hailing from Joliet, Illinois, FALSEFACED was formed in 2007 by four good friends, each of whom came from different bands as well as varying musical backgrounds. However, they all had one common mission: to create music which was brutal, yet appealing to a wide musical audience.During March of 2007, the newly formed band's mission was brought to an abrupt halt when FALSEFACED's lead vocalist, Eric Johnson, was faced with the untimely passing of his 22 year-old wife. With all band members mourning the loss of a wife and close personal friend, FALSEFACED was completely on hold and its future was uncertain. Drawing ...
