Dragonslayer review Product Description
A ferocious firebreathing dragon terrorizes the sixth-century English countryside, but the kingdom of Urland is strangely at ease--the king has made an evil pact with the dragon, offering to sacrifice virgins twice a year in exchange for peace. The unfortunate victims are culled from the kingdom's poorer families, but when the king's own daughter is next in line, a powerful wizard (Sir Ralph Richardson) and his youthful apprentice (Ally McBeal's Peter MacNicol) are called in to slay the dragon using their arsenal of magic and sorcery. ...See Full Description

Dragonslayer movie An unusual offering from Disney, made and released pre Touchstone. Dragonslayer video There are memorable performances from the actors especially Ralph Richardson. The storyline is in the typical fantasy genre and there are some very clever effects, coming as they do from a largely pre CGI era. However the story moves along a bit too slowly and the action scenes don't grab your attention as well as they should. A better, more exciting music score would have helped too. The end scenes are amazing. Modern day movie makers have obviously seen this one and borrowed heavily from the ideas and techniques. Not a brilliant movie but a good one and well worth a look.

Dragonslayer film Saw this in highschool pre Arnold Swartzenegger "Conan." Right up there w/ Sword and the Socerer-Takes you back to a time when movies took to the imagination. Still a joy to watch!! Young man takes the place of the master, has difficulty to inexperience but slays the dragon, gains respect, and most importantly, gets the girl in the end.
