| | Mark Ronson Here Comes The Fuzz CD - Import Mark Ronson Discography of CDs
Mark Ronson's Japanese import edition of HERE COMES THE FUZZ features 14 tracks including one bonus recording.
Loaded with guest artists and packed with danceable beats, DJ Mark Ronson's first record, Here Comes the Fuzz, is less a showcase for the New York-based artist's turntable skills and more of a radio-friendly pop-rap party album. A rising star on the NYC club scene since the late '90s, the occasional Tommy Hilfiger model and son of glam rock icon guitarist Mick Ronson previously produced tracks for other hip downtown scenesters, including Saturday Night Live regular Jimmy Fallon as well as singer Nikka Costa and rapper Sean Paul -- both of whom return the favor here. Much in the same way as DJ Shadow's Endtroducing... or the Avalanches' Since I Left You used the Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique as their template to display an eclectic and voracious record-collecting habit, Ronson's Here Comes the Fuzz mixes funk, hip-hop, soul, and rock into an "everything goes when you're having fun" cocktail. While never displaying the innovative vision or giddy melody-mixing heights of either of those albums, Here Comes the Fuzz does still resonate with the pulse of youthful ego driven by libido and hot wax. To these ends, rappers Ghostface Killah and Nate Dogg take the mic over a funky cowbell and the string section of Dennis Coffey's "Scorpio" on "Ooh Wee." Similarly, Mos Def and M.O.P. add Brooklyn street cred to Ronson's catchy if a bit obvious co-opting of Lenny Kravitz's hit "On the Run." Perhaps most interesting though, are Ronson's attempts at actual songwriting such as on the cosmopolitan disco plea "High," featuring vocalist Aya, and the punk à gogo of "I Suck" with Rivers Cuomo, which finds the Weezer frontman doing his best "Let's Go to Bed"-era Robert Smith warble against a sample from Labi Siffre's "Too Late." ~ Matt Collar

Here Comes The Fuzz songs
$11.18 Most of Graffiti is a natural progression for Chris Brown. Like many young cred-seeking male singers who have just exited their teenage years, Brown emphasizes womanizing and hedonism and balances it out with a couple clean and empty ballads, as well as a couple relatively lighthearted Europop numbers. A handful of songs deal with his relationship ...

| | Shawn Loescher Distance CD (1998) Collector's Edition
Here Comes The Fuzz music CDs
$14.79 This first statement by Shawn Loescher shows the emergence of one of the most talented alto sax players of his generation -- a musician in full command of his instrument and with a clear musical vision. Opening appropriately with Lee Konitz's "Subconscious-Lee," the young saxophonist does not appear as an imitator of his illustrious predecessor, but as a voice just as unique. There are definitely touches of West Coast jazz, but they are charged with emotion and tenderness. One of the main characteristics of Loescher's music is his effective use of counterpoints as his alto patterns during the bass solos bear witness. Loescher's original approach never sacrifices the melody, even when the band takes a composition, such as Richard Rodgers' "No Other Love," at a very slow pace. Loescher delves deep into the essence of the tunes to produce refreshing versions of standards next to which his originals, "Mass-Waltz" and "Love Letter," do not pale. The leader's alto playing is confident and sharp, and his ability to suddenly soar or bring his sound down to a whisper is worth mentioning. Eastern Europe has always been a good purveyor of jazz musicians and Loescher, who was residing in the Czech Republic at the time of this recording, found in bassist Robert Balzar and drummer Marek Patrman two ideally receptive bandmates. Distance showcases a young artist whose creativity and sensitivity should earn him many new listeners. ~ Alain Drouot
Press Quotes:"Loescher's alto soars and sings. His playing combines emotion, creativity and mastery of his instrument, qualities not always found in combination.......The expressive Loescher sound will capture your attention. The two versions of "Body and Soul" are worthy of comparison with those by Serge Chaloff and Coleman Hawkins."- Bill Falconer, November 2001 JazzReview.com, Review of "dIstance (c. e.)""While conserving themselves to a classic jazz format, the Loescher trio pushes its explorations to the limits. Their concerts are not to be missed."- Patrick Gauthier, August 2001, Journal of Montreal"Loescher knows the music's history, he knows where it comes from. When Loescher comes to play he has something to say."- Dirk Sutro, Los Angeles TimesThe Saxophone Journal - NOV/DEC 2000 Volume 25 Number 2Review of Shawn Loescher Trio "d I s t a n c e" - By Joe ViolaHis sound is full and rich making the horn really sing. The timbre is flexible and used artistically to easily alter the listener's emotional reactions. But always Shawn is guiding the listener ...
