Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; English Subtitles; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re When two young English cousins claim to have captured fairies on film, their photographs attract the attention of legendary skeptic Harry Houdini (Harvey Keitel) and legendary dreamer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Peter O'Toole). But are the fairies real, or are they simply the wistful projections of the two lonely girls, whose fragile spirits have been crushed by the death of a brother and the loss of a father in World War I? Based on a true case from 1917 in which the girls' photos turned out to be a hoax, but rendered with an infectious fanciful spirit that equivocates on the existence of magical creatures. Fairytale: A True Story Reviews: "...This is an amazingly rich film....In a deft, delicate way, it takes on a tangle of tantalizing themes..."

Fairytale: A True Story Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) A Great Movie For ALL Ages! A must for all of those who have seen fairies or want to see them. They are real!!! My Grandson sees them and says they look just like the fairies in the movie. I have seen my angels. We are not alone on this planet...others are here to help us. I am thrilled to see such a touching film on the market. Thanks for doing such a great job! Submitted by neupchurch (Dallas, TX, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A beautiful movie! Two young girls who believe that fairies are real attempt to prove it to the world in this drama based on actual events. In 1917, there is little to be happy about in the Wright household in West Yorkshire, England. Polly (Phoebe Nicholls) and her 12-year-old daughter Elsie (Florence Hoath) are still grieving over the death of Elsie's younger brother, and Polly's niece Frances (Elizabeth Earl) has come to stay with them after her father was declared missing in action during World War I. Polly longs for some sort of proof that there is a life beyond our own, while the two girls ardently believe in fairies and enthusiastically study legend and lore. One day, Elsie and Frances produce photographs of fairies that they claim were playing in their garden; Polly believes that they are real, and soon the snapshots attract international attention. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Peter O'Toole), author of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries and a confirmed spiritualist, declares the photos "as genuine as the King's beard," while illusionist Harry Houdini (Harvey Keitel), who has devoted much time and energy to exposing phony mediums and psychics, takes a more cynical view, though he too is eventually convinced that the fairies are real. While Fairy Tale: A True Story presents the appearance of the fairies as fact, analysis of the photographs proved them to be fakes (especially after the same fairies were discovered as illustrations in a children's book published before the photos were taken). The real-life Elsie Wright admitted late in life that the fairy photos were a hoax performed as a "little joke" and that she was always surprised that so many people believed
This is a movie that is so very enjoyable you can watch it again and again! The music also is beautiful!

$10.05 A stellar cast collides haphazardly in this insightfully written roundelay of racism, rage, and redemption which takes place over the course of one day in LA and involves a circus of cops, robbers, and civilians. A detective (Don Cheadle) with a heroin addict mother and criminal brother investigates the shooting of a black cop by a white one. Two hoodlums (Larenz Tate and Ludacris) jack the car of the District Attorney (Brendon Fraser) and his angry, racist wife (Sandra Bullock). Terrence Howard and Thandie Newton play an upper-class African American couple harassed by a racist cop (Matt Dillon). And the chaos continues, with other roles played by Tony Danza, ...
