See If I Care album Product Description
This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players. On his first couple of albums for Decca, Gary Allan's talent was somewhat submerged in assembly-line Nashville production. After a label change, his third disc, 1999's SMOKE RINGS IN THE DARK found him fulfilling his potential with a rootsy, accessible New Traditionalist sound. A few years down the line, he continues to progress, bucking the Nashville Nazis along the way. The album opener "Drinkin' Dark Whiskey," co-written by hard-country rebel Mike Henderson, is so full of fierce electric guitar and tough singing, it might have fallen off a Steve Earle record. The terse, tortured "See If I Care" sounds like a cross between Dwight Yoakam and TUNNEL OF LOVE-era Springsteen. "Songs About Rain," penned by another country upstart, Pat McLaughlin, cleverly skewers overused song metaphors. There are no charging power ballads on SEE IF I CARE and no hokey, cheap-shot lyrics, just tasteful production, thoughtful songwriting, and solid singing--fairly novel concepts for a 21st-century country star. ...See Full Description

| Gary Allen, The Best Gary Allen is a unique talent in today's country music. Each album just keeps getting better. His voice is amazing. With its gravelly, edgy sound, it can make a gal's heart skip a beat. Songs About Rain and the title song, See If I Care, are two of my particular favorites on this CD. Whatever he's doing, he's doing it right! By Linda (West Virginia) |

| Incredible! Once again, Gary delivers a CD filled with incredible Country & Western tunes. From the guitar heavy "Can't Do It Today" to the heartache of "See If I Care" to the Hawaiian-flavored "Don't Look Away" to the radio-friendly "You Don't Know A Thing About Me" to the final, bound for #1 (if it gets released as a single) Willie Nelsen duet "A Showman's Life". Every track is a winner! I can't help but get the feeling that Gary has the best time in the recording studio -- this guy loves to record all kinds of music! A+. By brian.thompson (New York, NY) |

Brad Paisley Mud on the Tires CD (2003)
See If I Care songs Contains an untitled hidden track which follows "Farther Along."
"Spaghetti Western Swing" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance. "Celebrity" was nominated for Best Country Song.
If Brad Paisley did not exist it would be necessary to invent him. He stands at the crossroads between the hipster realms of alt-country and the proletarian climes of mainstream Nashville. He's too close to the middle of the road to ever be drawn to the No Depression crowd's collective bosom, but he's miles ahead of the country assembly line. On his third album he continues to do things nobody else in the Nashville hierarchy does; play a number of his own instruments, write almost all his own songs, use his own band instead of the same studio vets that occupy the credits of seemingly every other contemporary country record.
Most importantly, his songs are full of humor that doesn't descend into hee-haw jokiness. He uses a ...

Smoke Rings in the Dark CD (1999) Top Seller
See If I Care album With his excellent third album, SMOKE RINGS IN THE DARK, Gary Allan found his artistic voice, one filled with torch and twang. Allan's always been true to the traditional country sounds of Buck and Merle, but SMOKE RINGS finds him channeling Roy Orbison too, as well as the atmospheric feel of Chris Isaak's early records. The production on the CD is just outstanding, whether it's the barroom piano on "Cowboy Blues," the gorgeous strings on "Cryin' for Nothing" or the low, twangy guitar that permeates nearly every song, especially the moody title track. And Allan's voice has never sounded better--it's right up front, gritty and packed with emotion. There's not a bad track on the CD, but some standouts include "Sorry," (which sounds like the best song the Stray Cats never recorded), the melodic "Right Where I Need to Be," and the intense "Lovin' You Against My Will." In addition, Allan makes the harder country ...

Tough All Over CD (2005)
See If I Care CD music In following up his exceptionally strong 2003 release, SEE IF I CARE, country singer Gary Allan opted to stick to his New Traditionalist guns, resulting in another compelling set of songs. TOUGH ALL OVER opens boldly with the rock-tinged title track (penned in part by Jim Lauderdale), and proceeds to mix sensitive ballads ("Best I Ever Had" and "Life Ain't Always Beautiful") with twangy mid-tempo tunes ("I Just Got Back from Hell"). The standout song, however, is "Nickajack Cave (Johnny Cash's Redemption)," an intriguing narrative about the Man in Black's darkest days that hints at Cash's signature sound without attempting to duplicate it.

It Would Be You CD (1998) Top Seller
See If I Care music CDs All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
Gary Allan is a surfer from Southern California, but you'd never know it from listening to IT WOULD BE YOU. Allan's taken care to pack his sophomore release with nothing but straight-up country songs from some of the finest writers in Nashville. Heck, he's even cut a song Conway Twitty wrote back in 1963 ("She Loves Me, She Don't Love You.") The material ranges from uptempo honky tonkers ("I've Got A Quarter In My Pocket," "Don't Leave Her Lonely Too Long") to melodic ballads ( "I Ain't Runnin' Yet," "I'll Take Today.")
Allan, with his slightly gritty voice, handles the range of material just fine. But his best performance, ironically, is on ...

Alright Guy CD (2001)
See If I Care songs In today's climate of disposable, prepackaged country stars, fans can be forgiven for not expecting very much of a performer hyped as "the surfing cowboy." Yet Gary Allan, a native Californian with a clear affection and aptitude for the music of Merle Haggard and George Strait, is more than a tag line and a pretty face. On ALRIGHT GUY, as on his breakthrough 1999 smash SMOKE RINGS IN THE DARK, Allan transcends the PR to produce a pleasing hybrid of modern, radio-friendly country and the genre's more traditional elements.
Allan has an appealing taste for the songs of country's underground songwriters: on ALRIGHT GUY he covers two by Bruce Robison (including "What Would Willie Do?" a song that seeks life advice from Willie Nelson) and one each by Jim Lauderdale ("What's On My Mind") and Todd Snider ("Alright Guy"). He imbues his more mainstream efforts ("Man to Man," "Man of Me") with an authenticity drawn from a combination of raw talent and deep, heartfelt country roots.
Personnel: Gary Allan (vocals, guitar); Jake Kelly, Joe Manuel, John Willis (acoustic guitar); Brent Rowan (electric guitar); Robby Turner (steel guitar); Hank Singer (mandolin, fiddle); Steve Nathan (keyboards); Michael Rhodes (bass); Chad Cromwell (drums); Harry Stinson, John Wesley Ryles (background vocals).
Producers: Tony Brown, Mark Wright, Odie Blackmon.
