Long Island's From Autumn To Ashes (or FATA to their friends) achieved success with their brand of high-octane metalcore the old-fashioned way--with the assistance of a loyal fan base, the product of an exacting performing schedule that included a high-profile 2003 Warped Tour. Their second album, THE FICTION WE LIVE, builds on the foundations of their debut, TOO BAD YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL, itself something of a departure from metal norms.
The band's imaginative take on what can often be a derivative field features airy, seemingly unpremeditated arrangements that combine the requisite half-man/half-monster vocals of lead singer Ben Perri with the more plaintive stylings of drummer/vocalist Fran Mark (whose Neil Peart-influenced percussive assault stands in wild contrast to his almost high-lonesome voicings). Songs such as "The After Dinner Payback," with its switchback tempo changes, are a dynamic shot in the arm to a genre that has found it's sometimes all too easy to forsake originality for speed and crushing volume.

I liked it instantly. This new one took a few listens to get into. The drummer sings alot more on this album (which has gotten better from the last album), and bens shouting has been toned down a little. If you by this be prepared for something a little different to the first CD. Submitted by a reviewer (Brough, East Yorkshire, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
One of the Best ! From autumn to ashes is more like "ECW";it's raw, full of passion and got everything to be called metal-emo...
But why,in my home town this album had a different title - Alive out of habbit ??? Only God knows... Submitted by Revolver & Tristan (Balikpapan,Kaltim,INA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The Best My favorite band of all time! I love the lyrics, and the vocals are top-notch. I don't know what happened on their new cd though... Submitted by MudvayneMasochist (No-Where, WV) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
YESSSSSSS This album is very different from Too Bad You're Beautiful, but I think it's actually better. Benjamin's vocals are alot cleaner and sound less screamo and more metal. I love how in one song they go from really hard to really soft when Fran sings. I also really like how they made Autumns Monologue link with The Fiction We Live. In my opinion, the best song is Every Reason To or Alive Out of Habit or maybe The After Dinner Payback. Every single song is good though and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes this type of music. Submitted by Aln (Mississauga, ON, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great Album I believe that this is a great album. I agree that it is not as hard as the first one that F.A.T.A. produced, but the songs are much better quality. "After Dinner Payback," "Milligram Smile," and "Alive Out of Habit" are some of their best songs in my opinion. I like the lyrics and the screamo is clean. Not a lot of profanity. I do enjoy how they linked "The Fiction We Live" and "Autumns Monologue." Great album to have in your collection. Submitted by darkknight7685 (Bossier City, LA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Aretha Franklin supplies vocals on two tracks -- "White Christmas" and "Silent Night" -- which just adds to this predictable but festive holiday release. ~ Gina Boldman

Fiction We Live MP3 Album
$6.89 Digitally remastered by Dan Hersch and Bill Inglot (Digiprep).
The Ramones' self-titled debut is a justifiably adored album--not just one of the best albums to come out of the initial New York punk explosion of the mid-'70s, but one of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time. RAMONES is one of those rare records where there is not a single weak or out-of-place song. Changeups like the bubblegummy near-ballad "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" and the uncharacteristically harsh "53rd and 3rd" (an unsentimental song about Dee Dee Ramone's days as a teenage hustler) vary the album's sound and mood more than its detractors (and even some of its fans) maintain.
The 2001 reissue adds eight bonus tracks. Most are culled from early demos, including two songs, "I Can't Be" and "I Don't Wanna Be Learned/I Don't Wanna Be Tamed," that were never officially recorded, and two others, "You Should Never Have Opened That Door" and "I Don't Care," which eventually appeared on their second and third albums respectively. None of the demos are particularly different from the final recordings, but, interestingly, they tend to be a little slower and poppier-sounding. The cleaner-sounding, more trebly ...
