The four-man group One Twelve began its career as the innocent soul crooners of Puff Daddy's Bad Boy crew. The quartet's first records were inviting slabs of gospel-tinged R&B honey, top-heavy on the ballads; however, with PART III, they shifted gears into an edgier, tougher sound with more frenetic, pulsating dance beats and more suggestive lyrics. (They also slightly re-christened themselves, switching from the numerals 112 to the spelled-out One Twelve.) On the fittingly titled HOT & WET, the group continues this transformation.
HOT & WET opens on an almost serene intro that weaves their earlier hits into a uniquely disarming landscape before setting a tone with the sexually charged, haunting "It's Goin' Down 2Nite," featuring T.I. in a guest appearance. The mood stays put on the title track, as Ludacris drops by with his usual verbal flair. "Unbelievable," which finds the four folding their vocals over one another with cool precision, provides a high point, even sneaking in a nice rap of their own. One Twelve hasn't forgotten what brought them initial success, though, flipping into a segment of smooth and slow songs before turning the tempo back up on an almost sinister remix of the title track. HOT & WET finds One Twelve striking a perfect balance of the new and the old for an appealing R&B record.

112 Iz Back It was good to even see an R&B group especially 112. I have been a fan since day 1 and this is clearly not their best work. I understand the label switch to Def Jam but this album only has about 6 listenalble songs. I was disappointed and they (112) are clearly capable of better work. But it is still better than average. How is this possible? Damn I don't understand how a group like 112 could fall so down on this album, I'ts like 112 on there lowest level, 75% on this album is quick song making with bad qualty that sounds shamefulle for a group like 112.
Very Talented but not giving all when it comes to the vocals on this album.
Slim's voice is like it lost control sounds Wack, and Daron don't try to hit high notes anymore and even his normal singing sounds like a hurry the others members sounds just okay not good or something ,why? . And Daron must has tought he could produce 75% on his own from this album ANd that was a mistake those beats are borring. The only songs that not makes me wanna skip on this album are Right here for you, Knock u down and you said that's all and even this songs are under there maxium level what a Damn Shame. This is something 112 must all has recenaised because there fith album pleasure and pain is briljant just like theire first three albums and show's what they did'nt showed on this album. I got all of theire albums and this one i like to throw away sometimes but i won't do that because i'm a fan of theire music and they has learn there lesson, 112 fans buy it if you want to but believe me it's not worth the money. Peace

The Worst I have been a "12" Fan since "only u" and i have followed their career since their Debut in 96.This album is a big let down. They left Bad Boy and the Formula that carried them to their fame.Darons Production is good, but for this Def Jam Debut it was too much, any true 112 fan would know that the production sunk the album and their two lead singles(Na Na Na/Hot&Wet) were less than bangers. 112 Needs to go back to Diddy and the production formula that made them rise above their revivals(JE), because this go round JE's "Hard" leads the pack. Dont waste ya money. Submitted by Teddy (ATL, GA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$13.85 This third installment in the series specially crafted by Collectables for WSNI FM focuses on the greatest hits of one of the most revered labels in pop music: Motown. With every single one of the 25 songs contained herein being either a chart-topper or a major hit, it's hard to refute this as nothing more than an extremely well-sequenced compilation covering Motown's glory years, and at an economically sensible price, it serves as an ideal starting point to those unfamiliar with Motown's vast arsenal of soulful hits. Simply outstanding from start to finish.~ Rob Theakston

Hot & Wet music CDs
$7.99 Louisville Music News By Kevin Gibson, 2007All Grown Up and Still TwangyI (Heart) Britney Spears (ear X-tacy)Heidi Howe EDITEDTo see the whole thing, go to www.heidihowe.comLouisville singer-songwriter Heidi Howe has gone in all sorts of directions since her first two releases, Nature of My Wrongs and A Real Piece of Work. She has delved into children's music, spiritual music and environmental awareness in her subsequent releases and has drawn quite a bit of praise for her efforts. Her new release, I (Heart) Britney Spears, sees Howe returning to her early days of simply presenting songs about heartbreak and the foibles of society, except this time she does it without any help. Whereas in the past Tim Krekel and other guests have joined her in the studio to create lush, layered productions, this 13-song set is just little Heidi and her big red guitar. It's spare and charming, with Howe's uber-twangy vocals out front and center, no holds barred. And her voice is the most apparent feature that sets Howe apart from other singer-songwriters. There's not a more distinctive, country-fried, fresh-from-the-Kentucky-hills voice in all of music. Seriously, Howe's voice makes Dolly Parton sound like a city slicker. (I hear some people say they don't like the shrill twang in her voice - me, I loved it from the first time I heard it.)But my favorite aspect of Howe's music has always been her sense of humor. "If I Were a Man," from the aforementioned Work, is just fall-down funny while still being poignant. I (Heart) Britney Spears is populated with a few re-recorded retreads, but offers up a collection of new songs that only Howe could have written - and which seem to illustrate where she is right now as a person. Howe has always worn her heart on her guitar strap and that's exactly what she does with endearing aplomb on I (Heart) Britney Spears. The album leads off with the title track, which is not an ode to or direct bashing of Spears but rather Howe's proclamation that she wants to be the kind of person who can love everyone equally, whether she thinks they are "an angel or a pain in the butt." The point here is that if she can legitimately say she loves Britney Spears, well, she can believe she's the kind of person she wants to be.Among the many highlights here is "Down in Malibu," which is about the unrealistic expectations placed on females to, well, look just like a Barbie doll and the conflicting messages young girls receive while growing up. "My grandma told me/Girl, be anything you want to be/Then she gave me a doll that looked just like a beauty queen/She ...
