| | Chris Mills Plays And Sings 7"/Nobody's Favorite EP. CD Chris Mills Discography of CDs
The 2003 release on Powerless Pop by Chicago alternative country/folk-pop singer/songwriter Chris Mills, Plays and Sings/Nobody's Favorite combines two of his earliest releases. Plays and Sings was Mills' debut, a 7" single released in 1995 by Sugar Free containing two songs: "Nowhere Town" and "Steel Walls and Iron Bars." Nobody's Favorite was also released in 1995 by Sugar Free. It is a seven-track EP that features another version of "Nowhere Town" and the despairing "Keep the Corpse Beautiful." Powerless Pop has done a big favor to Chris Mills fans by making both of these impossible-to-find releases available again. ~ Tim Sendra

| | Irving I Hope You're Feeling Better Now CD (2003) Extended Play
Plays And Sings 7"/Nobody's Favorite EP. album
$7.99 Sometime late in the last century, the proverbial "friend of a friend" invited three young refugees from Northern California to provide music for her gallery opening in Los Feliz Village in Los Angeles. The young musicians in question were Steven Scott, Brian Canning and Alex Church. Instead of turning up with two turntables and a microphone, they brought their guitars and a wealth of pop smarts, little knowing they were on their way to becoming L.A.'s beloved sweethearts, Irving.Soon after that, the trio was joined by keyboardist Shana Levy and Brent Turner on drums. Although all five were new to the music biz, each member had his/her own distinct personality and voice. And that's the truth as each writes and sings lead vocals. While for some that's a recipe for disaster, for Irving it's more like a sure cure for anonymity. By the end of 2000, they'd toured the States, played CMJ's New Music Festival, and received prime ...

| | Amy Rigby Little Fugitive CD (2005)
Plays And Sings 7"/Nobody's Favorite EP. music CDs
$13.95 An album steeped in New York City rock history, 2005's LITTLE FUGITIVE finds singer/songwriter Amy Rigby (the Shams/Last Round Up) waxing nostalgic about the Ramones (the buoyant "Dancing with Joey Ramone") and collaborating with Patti Smith Group's Lenny Kaye (on his own melancholy tune "The Things We Leave Behind"). As always, Rigby's charmingly off-key voice carries these never-too-polished narratives, which include the witty "Needy Men" and "Girls Got It Bad."
Renowned songwriter Amy Rigby's upcoming fifth album, Little Fugitive (August 23 rd on Signature Sounds), finds the singer, who began her solo career as the Mod Housewife, bringing it all back home. Hailed for her keen eye and sharp wit in tracing the vagaries and victories of modern ...
| | Shane Alexander Stargazer CD (2006) (Import)
Plays And Sings 7"/Nobody's Favorite EP. songs
$18.55 L.A.-based solo artist Shane Alexander is back with Stargazer, the follow up album to his critically acclaimed 2005 independent release, The Middle Way. The new album, produced by Heroes & Villains, features some of Los Angeles most respected musicians Charlie Paxon (James Blunt, Colin, Hay, Anastasia) on drums, Billy Mohler (Macy Gray, Liz Phair, Herbie Hancock) on bass, Krister Axel on piano, Chris Pierce on harmonica, and veteran session ace Kim Bullard (Tori Amos, Goo Goo Dolls, David Crosby, Eddie Money) on Hammond organ. Stargazer--recorded in only four days--was tracked mostly live using vintage gear. The result is a rich, timeless sound. The vocals and songwriting on Stargazer convey a real sense of honesty. On "Spaces In Between", the album's opening track, Shane muses that little spaces in between I find, are all thats left of all my time, trying to make each moment last. The Moore Hotel is a beautiful and melancholy song written while fighting insomnia in a lonely Seattle hotel room; it brings images of lonely walks and sleepless nights to life. Front Porch Serenade, the albums closer, is a classic love song recorded live with only acoustic guitar, piano and heartfelt vocals that leaves the listener with a lump in their throat.Formerly the front man for the rock band Damone, Alexander took the solo path immediately following Damones 2003 disbanding. Soon after, Shane released his self-produced, self-titled EP, featuring simple ...
