Limited two CD 'Tour Edition' of the band's sophomore album, originally issued in 1999 and produced by Scott Litt. The California Alt-Metal band surprised many critics and fans by achieving success on their own terms, which included endless touring. This double disc pressing includes a bonus CD featuring four tracks: 'Pardon Me' (Acoustic), 'Stellar' (Acoustic), 'Make Yourself' (Acoustic), and 'Drive' (Orchestral Live Version). Sony.
Incubus: Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger, Jose Pasillas II, DJ Kilmore, Dirk Lance. Additional personnel: Dave Holdridge (cello); Cut Chemist. Nu-Mark (scratches). Produced by Scott Litt, Incubus' second full-length album, Make Yourself, makes a bid for broader mainstream success while keeping the group rooted in a hybrid of familiar late '90s alt-metal (i.e., roaring guitars, white-noise sonic textures, and an undercurrent of electronics) and Chili Pepper funk-rock. Where S.C.I.E.N.C.E. sometimes veered abruptly between the two genres without really fusing them, Make Yourself finds the band settling more comfortably into its sound, and once again, there are a few really good singles. Once again, too, there are still a few awkward moments and underwritten songs, but overall, the album should definitely please fans. ~ Steve Huey Take the apocalyptic, electronics-tinged riff-rock of bands like Korn. Subtract the fratboy sensibility and the Red Hot Chili Peppers-derived hip-hop rhythms. Add a sophisticated sense of melody and harmony, a more optimistic lyrical outlook, and a sense of dynamics. You've essentially got the Incubus sound. Incubus practices the kind of rapid intra-song mood shifts that were Nirvana's trademark, but instead of merely going from soft to loud and back, they change stylistically, switching from full-on hard rock to almost jangly, low-key alt-rock. The resultant sound should appeal to fans of both styles. The tasteful application of electronic effects updates the feel of MAKE YOURSELF nicely. There's plenty of teeth-gnashing and shrieking angst to be found in the lyrics, but there's hopefulness and pop-friendly catchiness as well. In the world of late-'90s radio rock, Incubus seems capable of being all things to all people.
Alternative Press (1/00, p.88) - 3 out of 5 - "...a stylish attempt to merge...metal-edged riff-rock with hip-hop turntable aesthetics....reveals a band with more [brains] than...balls...." CMJ (11/1/99, p.26) - "...a fresh and sassy new amalgam....[Incubus] still rock the night away, but they've mellowed out considerably on the smooth-movin' MAKE YOURSELF." Make Yourself Review

Make Yourself
$8.19 Includes bonus DVD. This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Incubus: DJ Kilmore, Mike Einziger, Ben Kenney, Jose Antonio Pasillas II, Brandon Boyd. At the beginning of their career, Incubus was rightly lumped in with the legions of post-Korn alt metal/rap-rock bands swarming America in the latter days of the 20th century. But by their third album, 1999's Make Yourself, they had separated from the pack, as indicated by the presence of producer Scott Litt, best-known for his work with R.E.M.. It signaled that the band was serious, and they began expanding their rap-metal template on that album and its follow-up, 2001's Morning View, completing their transition from juvenelia to maturity with 2003's Crow Left of the Murder. Switching from Litt to producer Brendan O'Brien, a man who has been with Pearl Jam longer than any of their drummers, Incubus has opted for a clean, crisp yet heavy sound which allows them to aggressively switch from crunching metallic riffs to jazzy prog interludes. It's an expansive musical vision ...

| | Incubus Light Grenades CD (2006) Bonus Tracks; Japan
Make Yourself
$32.39 Japanese pressing of the 2006 release from this Alterna-Rock band adding 2 bonus tracks 'Punchdrunk' & 'Look Alive'. Light Grenades is a very new perspective for incubus. We spent more time crafting, and sculpting these songs than we have historically' Brand Boyd. Multi-platinum alternative rockers Incubus release Light Grenades their sixth studio album. The highly anticipated new album - which was produced by renowned producer Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, Korn) - is a mix of hard rocking songs and sublime ballads recorded over the last year in both Los Angeles and Atlanta. This is Incubus' first new music since A Crow Left of the Murder which spawned the hit "Megalomaniac." Sony.
A long-awaited break from an aggressive touring cycle afforded Incubus the freedom to hone a set of material that fully realized the band's ever-developing musical vision. Light years from the novelty turntable scratching and rap-rock angst that marked their earlier works, LIGHT GRENADES is an arty and diverse affair. The bass-heavy prog leanings of 2004's A CROW LEFT OF THE MURDER are replaced by a much more meat-and-potatoes rock approach that has become quintessential Incubus. The album opens with "Quicksand" ...

| | Rammstein Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da CDs (2009) Bonus Tracks; Deluxe Edition; Digipak
Make Yourself
$17.65 Deluxe Edition
Audio Mixer: Stefan Glaumann. Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate textures of their later work, LIEBE IST is a grand achievement, skillfully dividing its time between razor sharp metal rockers like "B********" or the opening theme song "Rammlied" and nostalgic, cabaret pieces that conjure the spirits of Weil and Brecht at a goth club. Best of the latter is the naked and haunting closer "Roter Sand" but little touches of a sinister yesteryear are everywhere, like the fake vaudeville ...
