APPLE is the 1990 debut release by legendary grunge rockers Mother Love Bone and includes the tracks "Holy Roller," "Man Of Golden Words," and two extra tracks, including "Lady Godiva Blues."
Fair or unfair, Mother Love Bone is destined to be described as "the band Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard were in before Pearl Jam." But in fact, Apple is a solid offering that can stand on its own merits. Even if Pearl Jam had never come about, Apple would be well worth obtaining. Though MLB proudly declared its allegiance to Seattle in a 1990 interview with Cash Box, Apple really doesn't fall into the alternative rock category or inspire comparisons to bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, or Soundgarden. Rather, MLB were clearly Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith devotees, and it's hard to miss the influence of Zep's Robert Plant and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler when lead singer Andrew Wood tears into such intense yet melodic hard rock boogie as "Capricorn Sister," "Stardog Champion," and "Captain Hi-Top." This was a band with great potential, but sadly, one can only speculate on what would have happened had it had a chance to develop. ~ Alex Henderson

Recording information: London Bridge Studio, Seattle, WA (1989); The Record Plant, Sausalito, CA (1989). Apple Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) THIS ALBUM ROCKS! Before PEARL JAM and SOUNDGARDEN there was MOTHER LOVE BONE! Hailing from Seattle the name Mother Love Bone is now legendary amongst all rock fans. After the demise of one of Seattle's key rock groups - Green River, who were forerunners in the early grunge scene that was soon to explode out of Seattle, members Stone Gossard, Bruce Fairweather and Jeff Ament recruited Gary Gilmour and Andy Wood to complete the final line up of Mother Love Bone. With their initial release, the six track Shine EP causing a huge amount of interest the band's first album "Apple" quickly followed. Employing a 1970's rock sound on tracks such as "Stardog Champion" and "Holly Roller", guitar histrionics on "Come Bite the Apple" and a gentler groove on "Man of Golden Words". "Apple" gave the band a promising future! However, just as Apple was due for release in March 1990 Wood's tragic death from a heroin overdose caused the band to disband.
Wood 's friend Chris Cornell from Soundgarden began work on a Temple of the Dog tribute project with members of Mother Love Bone and the unheard of Eddie Vedder, this was the beginning for Pearl Jam!
This album has now been deleted for nearly 12 years! Containing the original album tracks and original artwork plus two rare bonus tracks, digitally remastered, this album will be Lemon Recordings first release and is a Rock Collector and Grunge fan must have.

Apple music CDs
$13.15 2006 digitally remastered reissue of this 1972 album by the British Glam/Rock superstars featuring five bonus tracks: 'My Life Is Natural', 'Candidate', 'Wonderin' Y', 'Man Who Speeks Evil' and 'Slade Talk To Melanie Readers'. By the time that the 'Slayed?' album arrived in September 1972, Slade had scored their third British No.1 single with 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now', which was included on side two of the LP. 'Slayed?' has been called "music to wreck concert halls to", and it's a description that few familiar with it would choose to refute. Aside from 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now' and 'Gudbuy T'Jane', the latter a No. two hit in November '72, it was swelled by self-penned nuggets like 'How D'You Ride' and 'The Whole World's Goin' Crazee', plus covers of Janis Joplin's 'Move Over' and 'Let The Good Times Roll' by Shirley Goodman & Leonard Lee, both of which were regulars in their live repertoire. New Musical Express hailed 'Slayed?' as "one of the greatest rock 'n' roll releases ever," and it remains one of the band's best-loved long players. Crank up the volume and go crazee!. Slavo.
Slade might have built its everywhere-but-America fame upon a succession of gut-tearing hit singles, but the band's true rocking credentials were on display elsewhere, in the second to none stage show that had already been preserved on the epochal Slade Alive! earlier in 1972 and across the chain of storming B-sides that had accompanied the smashes so far. Slayed? may have been only the band's second studio album in four years, but it reinforced that barrage with enough mighty stompers that the band could have taken the next year off and still not run out of steam. Even if one excises past hits "Gudbuy t' Jane" and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" from the equation, Slayed? is a nonstop party, from the riotously self-fulfilling prophecy of "The Whole World's Goin' Crazee" to the ...
| | Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders Outskirts Of Your Heart CDs (2007)
Apple songs
$12.85 In 2004, the Lazy Cowgirls, long one of the best-kept secrets in American rock & roll, finally called it quits after nearly 25 years of inspiring music, but lead singer and principal songwriter Pat Todd clearly isn't ready to throw in the towel just yet. Todd has formed a new band, the Rankoutsiders, who follow a similar path to the latter-era Cowgirls -- fast and loud old-school punk on one hand, and hard but heartfelt honky tonk on the other. However, unlike the Lazy Cowgirls, the Rankoutsiders can handle the quieter country material with the same sure hand as the louder, frantic rock stuff, and Todd's first album with the band, The Outskirts of Your Heart, is his most impressive melding to date of his two great (musical) loves. The Outskirts of Your Heart is an ambitious two-disc set, with the first CD primarily devoted to raw, four-on-the-floor rock and the second featuring Todd's acoustic-oriented music, but there's plenty of crosstalk between the two -- "I Wonder Why" has enough swagger to fuel a major city even without drums, and "November 11th" generates a high, lonesome mood despite the Marshall amps. This album features Todd's strongest lineup of musicians since the Ragged Soul-era Cowgirls -- guitarists Nick Alexander and Tony Hannaford, bassist Rick Johnson, and drummer Bob Deagle are tight, grooving, and emphatic regardless of volume -- but the star of this show is Pat Todd, and he's in stellar form here. Lots of rockers talk about passion and commitment, but for Todd those aren't words, they're as necessary to life as water and oxygen, and he has no fear in letting the deepest and most painful secrets of love, life, and survival take the center stage in his songs. Todd can sing with roughhouse fury or smoky sweetness depending on the song, but there isn't a moment on any of these 28 songs where he puts less than a hundred percent of his soul on plastic, and he's rarely had as powerful and diverse a vehicle for his music as he's given himself on The Outskirts of Your Heart. This is a superior work from an estimable and underappreciated talent, and if you love rock & roll that comes from the heart, the soul, and the gut, you owe it to yourself to hear this album. ~ Mark Deming
“Pat Todd is a true American Original. His voice is capable of delivering the most heartfelt melodies and yet retain the toughness of his spirit. Raw, real and passionate - that's what I think of when I hear the name, Pat Todd. The Rank Outsiders project continues his tradition of delivering the goods to the people who need 'em! And boy do we need Mr. Todd and his Rank Outsiders, now more than ever. “ - Eddie Spaghetti, ...
