Mexican pop star Cristian has been plying his trade since the early 1990s, and AMAR ES reflects the artistic distances he's traveled. There's everything from traditional-sounding balladry to full-on rock decked out with neo-psychedelic touches. Whether Cristian is riding atop a bed of biting electric guitars and buzzing synthesizers or crooning romantically over a gentle framework of acoustic guitars and percussion, his strong, emotive voice is the connecting thread through AMAR ES. Never histrionic or unnecessarily melismatic, his singing style is consistently tasteful, making every stylistic transition on this eclectic album a smooth one.

Amar Es Music Review Average Rating: (3.5 out of 5 stars) Not His Best... After listening to Cristian's new music I have to say that it isn't as good as his previous albums. Some songs clearly don't belong here. He has an incredible voice but it only shines when it's matched with the right material. The songs that I recommend are "No Hace Falta", "Oracion Caribe", "Madrigal". A few other ballads are decent. Good lyrics but not the best melodies. "Gallito Feliz" should not have been in the cd. He still is in the top five as the current latin singers. I just had better expectations materialwise. It's a listenable cd but you may have to skip a couple of songs unlike his best cd "Mi Vida Sin Tu Amor". Submitted by a reviewer (California) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
I agree with all You completely tell it's not his best. If you took out a few tracks it would be way better Submitted by christian (Addison, Il, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The more the merrier I think we fall into the trap of expecting everything to be like "Mi Vida Sin Tu Amor" because of the nature of it; it really was a classic. And just like "Azul," my first opinion of his new album was that it wasn't as good. But just like "Azul," the more I listen to this album, the more I realize how good it really is. Yeah, Gallito Feliz (Rock version) was a little weird. Oh well. The album is still good, although not five stars. But track two, six, seven and eight were good. And although I don't think he "Entre los Andes" is as good as it could have been, something about the song intrigues me... don't know why. By now, Cristian Castro has enough good material that I have just taken the three or four songs I like best off all his albums and put it on my own CD. Works great that way!!! $8.35 33 was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.
On 33, Latin superstar Luis Miguel sticks to his guns, belting out more light pop tunes on this all-Spanish-language outing. "Un Te Amo" starts things off on a breezy yet emotive note, while "Con Tus Besos" revisits energetic 1970s-style horn-laden pop. This slightly funky style is also present on songs such as "Eres," "Y Sigo," and "Vuelve," conjuring up images of a Spanish SOLID ...
