Initial pressings included a bonus DVD. Personnel includes: CeCe Winans (vocals); Mike Ripol (acoustic guitar); Paul Jackson Jr., Carlos Pennell (guitar); Elijah "DeDe" Holt, Mark Nemer (drums); Melinda Doolittle, Dwaune Starling, LeAnne Palmore, Jerard Woods, Born Again Church Choir, Debbie Winans, Angie Winans (background vocals); Cedric Caldwell, Victor Caldwell. Producers: Cedric Caldwell, Cedric Caldwell. Legacy of an awesome gospel family, CeCe Winans has never been one to rest on her laurels. As half of a superstar duo with her brother BeBe, she lent her versatile voice to some of the more memorable R&B/gospel hybrids of the '80s and '90s. A solo artist since the mid-'90s, she has careened from traditional gospel to straight-secular contemporary R&B and more. She veers in yet another direction with THE THRONE ROOM, a breathy collection of lushly produced, accessible, unconditionally inspirational pop ballads with the lightest of R&B touches in a style equal parts Enya, Celine Dion, Karyn White, and Leonard Bernstein. THE THRONE ROOM opens with a lush instrumental overture before Winans's vocals sneak in on the fetching "Jesus, You're Beautiful." "You're So Holy" lies somewhere between new age composition and holiday carol, and Cece's vocals slide gracefully with the subtlest of power on the Broadway-ish "By Thy Blood." Winans cuts the album into two parts with distinct titles, but other than a slightly more soulful tilt, not counting the dance-floor "Hallelujah Praise" the gentle, lulling sound remains constant throughout THE THRONE ROOM, continuing the soulful gospel vocalist's own legacy. Throne Room Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews The Presence of God in your home !! I have not listened to too many of Cece's albums, but the Worship album is a beaut. Calm , and inspiring, it really takes you to the throne room. It is a great resource as you want quietness and need to just meditate on God's goodness. From the Majestic Hallelujah to the King with the Nashville String ensemble to we thirst for you and the How great thou art classic. But that is not all. you can come out rejoicing and dancing with the Dove award winning Hallelujah is the highest praise as Cece belts it out.
After a second listen, the CD grew on me. This is for the connoisseur of good music. Well done. Submitted by Martin_adu (Leiden, The Netherlands) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
BEAUTIFUL SPIRITUAL CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE Cece Winans always manages to bring to the Christian Community, beautiful and moving messages through her excellently produced Gospel Music. Her songs take you through updated renditions of old Hymns to beautiful, stirring or hand clapping R&B flavored sounds. This current CD is worth the purchase and very much worth listening, for it takes every Christian heart through many wonderful emotions. Good worship I agree...good worship for your personal time with God. But I think the more uptempo songs (Hallelujah Praise,Just like you Jesus) should have been left out because they don't really fit in both musically and quality... Throne Room
$47.29 Louis Philippe has often described the making of his final album for Mike Alway's gloriously eccentric él label as a less-than-happy experience. Though he and fellow arranger/producer Dean Brodrick had been afforded the relatively princely budget of 10,000 pounds, which they promptly invested in a 24-track studio and a bevy of session musicians, the combination of friction between the two of them and a tendency to get carried away with the instrumental resources at their disposal for the first time took a heavy toll. Yet a listener alighting on Yuri Gagarin for the first time is unlikely to discern much in the way of bad vibes. Even more so than its predecessor, Ivory Tower, it simply teems with ideas. From his earliest recordings, it had been clear that Philippe was able to conjure sophisticated pop melodies seemingly at will. By now though, his hard work as él's in-house arranger was also beginning to pay further dividends, and as a consequence, many of the songs here venture some distance from the sunshine pop models (Brian Wilson, Burt Bacharach, et al.) that had served him so ...
